    Casio G-Shock GW2310FB-1

Sorry to revive this thread, but I just received my new EDC watch - a Casio G-Shock GW2310FB-1.

I know it's not the most expensive watch in this thread, but I abuse my watches - so for me, a watch has to be able to take a beating. It's really comfortable, light weight, and I don’t ever have to set it because it receives the local time every night while I sleep. I think it's a pretty great little watch.

    Specs:

    • Negative Display
    • Multi-Band Atomic Timekeeping
    • Tough Solar Power
    • Shock Resistant
    • 200M Water Resistant
    • Full Auto EL Backlight with Afterglow
    • World Time
    • 31 times zones (48 cities + UTC), city code display, daylight saving on/off
    • 4 Daily alarms and 1 Snooze Alarm
    • Hourly time signal
    • 1/100 second stopwatch
    • Countdown Timer
    • Full auto-calendar (pre-programmed until the year 2099)
    • 12/24 hour formats
    • Button operation tone on/off
    • Storage battery: Solar rechargeable battery
    • Battery power indicator
    • Power saving function
    • Approx. battery life: 10 months on full charge (without further exposure to light)

Had some great freelance gigs 5 years ago, and was getting tired of people asking me if my Rolex was real (it was). I wanted a watch that would represent the watchmaker's art - haute horology as it were - so I sold the Rolex (kept lousy time and broke twice in a year) and got a Glashutte Original Sport Evolution Panorama Date. I'll agree that's a really pretentious name, but their watches are incredible.

Daily driver. Want to get the leather band, but there is no way I'm going to blow ~$700 on a freaking band and clasp

    Excellent choice! I had a GW2310-1 for a while.

I don't think there's anything else you can ask for in a digital watch... especially a G-Shock. Full of actually useful functions.

Cool piece! Plenty of OEM parts around. Also, might want to put up a WTB ad on several watch forums including timezone as they have a Tag sub-forum too. You'll probably snap one up for much less.

G Shock riseman. Solar powered, syncs with atomic clock every night. Also has an altimiter, barometer, and thermometer, none of which I ended up using.

I have a Movado and it has literally gone through hell for the last 5 years. It's holding up very well for an $800.00 watch ;) I think the crystal face on it is made from Krypton... not a scratch or chip anywhere on it
