I have been loading 45 Acp and 45 LC with Titegroup.
45 ACP get 4.7 grains. & Winchester primers.
I have loaded several thousand with this combo --some for good friends.
no issue in my Springfield 1911 at all. Closer to max load usually equals a cleaner
accuracy is only an issue with the shooter.

I ended up getting the last pound of Winchester 231 at the Howard County show this morning, they guy next to me said he hasn't seen it in the last year so it looks like I lucked out. Thanks everyone for the advise on this thread

    Sgt Preston here...

    I use Winchester 231 powder...

    And Winchester Large Pistol Primers...

Here is a recipe that will give you some great ammo...

I like 200 Grain Semi Wad Cutters = clean round hole in the paper...

Brass plated Berry's 200 Grain Semi Wad Cutters will keep your barrel from Leading...

    I use 5.0 Grains of Win 231 in my Springfield 1911 x 5"...

I insert the bullets to an Overall Length of 1.250...

And I crimp to a diameter of .469 / .470 measured at the end of brass...

I've loaded & fired thousands of rounds at these settings & it's a great load...

    Good Luck...

One thing to remember, it's NOT a race...

You are building little bombs to go off 15" in front of your face...

Sgt Preston, I have the same primers and also have a Springfield 1911 5", thanks for the recipe

    You're welcome Adam...

    I also use WIN 231 Powder for my 9's & 38 Specials...

    It's a fairly "universal" powder...

I don't reload 40's but there are also recipes around for using WIN 231 for 40's...

    Good luck...

Adam here's another piece of simple advice (learned the hard way)...

When you try out a new recipe, always make up 20 - 50 rounds & take them to the range...

Make sure they cycle your gun & are consistently accurate BEFORE you load the next 950 rounds...

If you want to shoot USPSA and make major, you need 5.4 - 5.5 grains of 231 under a 200 grain lead or plated semi wad cutter.

I think IDPA is the same power factor if shooting a class that has major.

    Congrats on getting some W-231!!!!!!!!

As Sgt. Preston said, only load a few rounds to make sure that they function well and are what you're looking for, in the accuracy department.

Looking forward to seeing/reading your range report!
