    Here is a Caspian frame/Remsport slide 45 ACP pistol in the works. The slide/frame fit is great laterally .0005”/.0008” clearance rear and front respectively. The vertical is .0025” simply because the slide way was too large. Not too big a deal since the barrel lock up diminishes that slop.

    Fitted with StormLake gunsmith fit barrel. The grip safety, slide stop, barrel link and pin are EGW. Thumb safety is Cylinder and slide.

    The Remsport slide for my 9mm was oversized in both vertical and lateral dimensions. So this means the jury is still out on using these slides for tight builds. Overall, so far, the slide is a good one.

    After some rough in blending of the:

    - Grip safety, top blended lower registered;
    - Slide/frame, final blend after test firing and barrel settles in;
    - Magwell, opened it up some.

    Bottom of beavertail ready for final cosmetic blending. prolific because I knock the edges off the beavertail to avoid rolled edges and abraded hands.

    EGW…bank account…ouchie…but worth every penny.

    I’ve been doing a good bit of “maker exploring”. Its telling how the parts differ.

    Mag... Like the picz, may have to combine em all in a PDF

    Once again 1911's are fun to build, may take some time but well worth it.
    How do you work on em? a little at a time (sessions) here is a little sessions
    work on one thing then move to next.
    Great work, nice blending..

    Thank you for the cudos, Roc.

    They are fun to build. I’m hooked! I usually do the builds by sections, or processes, depending on time on hand.

    This grip safety, for example, was about an 8-10 hour job. EGW puts extra metal where the horizontal cut under the frame tangs interface with the grip safety to fill the gap typically there. So I stopped well short of the .220” radius to keep the blend areas close. I don’t use a jig nor mill, all files, abrasives and dial calipers. So the sessions I worked to were fit just short of radius, fit to radius and lap, then fit the filler areas.

    First I fit the slide and frame.

    Barrel was done in three sittings - fitting to slide, lower lugs, link and bushing, then barrel timing. I have experienced a good bit of “things” occurring in the lug tunnel of the frame affecting barrel/slide linkdown clearance lately. These things are time eaters. Some may say otherwise but barrel fitting is not a slam dunk quickie proposition.

    Hope this helps…I’ll work on a PDF.

    I was gonna do a PDF capture, the pics and all :D:D

    Same here Slide to frame first, then move on.
    your right some get the impression throw it together and
    done... you and I know that ain't happening. It's not "this
    will drop-in" or one size fits all. Building the 1911's is like
    "I'm in my own little world" no hurry. The end results speak
    for themselves. Watched a ton of Mosin-virus videos before
    starting, snagged some Bob Marvel videos

    files n stones, Dykem where needed.. wear gloves now blue fingers
    draw attention;);)

    Enjoy your posts.
