I have been pressing on my gas checks prior to coating also per advice from John. Some will come off in coating and I have to pick those out or reject after coating. Plus they have to be straight. A crooked or not consistently seated gas check can be a flier and kill accuracy.

Guzma, that looks really good with the 3D printed holder. I’ll have to talk to you about what you did there.

What is the highest humidity anyone has shake and baked powder coating? My hard rule was under 40% and I made bunch of 1/2 and 1/2 9mm hollow point bullets and can't get the humidity lower than 45% now that it got warmer. Maybe when its gets colder next week and the wood stove is going again.

I have done it at 50% with fresh paint powder. It seems to me, the older the powder, the less humidity you need.

That could well be... I don't have any 'fresh' powders, so mine are a bit aged. though pretty well sealed up for storage, but I agree with Rob, much over 40% and I try to avoid it. I may have done it successfully at slightly higher, but I'd say 45 is about tops for me with what I have on hand.

Humidity got to below 40 so I tried to powder coat some 147 grain (155) hollow points for 9m. I wanted purple so show different and bought Eastman Grape. It wouldn't stick work a crap. Tried it on ice cube trays and it wasn't enough on it to flow to cover. It also stick to non stick aluminum. Another fail. Tried spinning 5 for a second coat and not enough stuck to make it work. Disappointed with this powder.

Then I did red and that stuck fine. Tried the ice cube trays for rifle bullets and it looked good. See pic 2366 and I am not impressed. I for winds on some from the trays the sizer will crush and flat spots the sides made.

Threw the last bunch and crappy purples in to the red and spun them. I could hard tell which ones were purple. Nothing was as easy as the wire basket. These stuck together something awful and might need a second coat. I got bare spots from the wire and them sticking together and pulling off the coat on another. Maybe I should have shook them and they had too much powder?

Might have to get the silicone mat and try that.
