I cross posted from reloading as some folks may be interested.

I went to Bass Pro this morning to buy 2 pounds of Red Dot. I was about 20th in line to get in at about 0840. By 0900, the line had grown to about 75. I walked as fast as I could to the gun counter (bad back and old age keep me from running) and managed to grab the number six tag. ;)

I waited 35 minutes until I was able to buy my powder. :sad20: This time, the guy wrote it up in a book. The last time I was there, in November, no one wrote it up. Go figure. By the time I left the store, the numbers were up to 85. One guy said he waited 3.5 hours yesterday to buy a gun and he was there to buy another today! Damn Obungo is passing Clinton as the best gun salesman ever.

BTW, they have less powder than usual as noted by what empties are on the shelf. If they are out of that type of powder, they take the empty down. Also, the .22 section was cleaned out except for some .22 Mags and some wooden box Bass Pro promotions.

Also stopped by Walmart on Claus drive and found it's ammo shelves pretty empty too.

    Regards,

    John

Sadly, everywhere you go these days looks like it has been looted. In the past two weeks I've been to at least 6 gun shops, 2 Dick's stores and 2 Walmarts and Old Mother Hubbard had better looking shelves than nearly all of them. I'm not doing too bad with picking up a few odds-and-ends online, but the madness is quickly enveloping even the E-tailers. The best thing to do is just try to stay calm and hope the madness subsides.

Is 7.62 x 39 123 grain difficult to find? Walmart in Eldersburg had 3 boxes of 40 for like 29 something/box.

Is that the Winchester White Box brass ammo? I know there was some of that at Walmart on Quarterfield road in Glen Burnie on Friday. I prefer the (much) cheaper Steel-cased TulAmmo at $5/20.

I haven't even attempted to checkout Bass Pro or Walmart yet with the post holiday madness, I did find plenty of ammo (yes even .223) at Arundel Firearms and Pawn, however they were charging $1.00+ per round for .223. I couldn't bring myself to pay that much for some regular old PMC Bronze. Pasadena Pawn and Gun is charging $0.75 per round for loose federal rounds.

Phil at Arundel Gun and Pawn unfortunately has inflated prices on almost everything in the store. Several of his friends, me being one of them, have tried to get him to lower his prices some or give discounts to MD shooters but he is not interested. I don't know how he stays in business unless it is the pawn side of the house bringing in the bucks.

They should at least attempt to be competitive, maybe charge $0.60/round ($12/box) instead of hiking it up that much, I'm sure there's people that are going nuts and spending that much but those prices I'm sure are the very reason they had plenty of it sitting on the shelf and are the reason I left empty handed. I guess you gotta do what you gotta do when demand goes up though :sad20:.

Friday night I went the new walmart in randallstown to buy some 22 for my ruger I was soposed to pick up saturday morning. Couldn't buy it after 10 (store rule), the case was pretty bare, one brick of CCI 22 and a brick of M-22 1000 round. Went back at 9 am and it was loaded!! I bought ever bulk pack of winchester 100 round 9mm and two bricks of federal 550 count 22. Talked with the department manager, he said they are still in the settling phase of the store and he is almost done getting everything straight and is going to make sure he has the case and stuff in the back ready to replenish as he is always selling out. Says the local cops come in and buy him out, I said well this time they will know what its like to keep going back to walmart and not have any ammo. Was also in bass pro shop today in arundel mills, the ammo section was getting to slim pickings there.

What Bass Pro did you go to?

I was in the Arundel Mills store on Friday, to spend a holiday gift card, and while the ammo shelves were picked clean of everything but the "high end" ammo and wierd calibers (They had a boatload of 7mm Mauser, for example), their powder shelf was full, and they had tons of reloading gear. Also no "ammo book"(I bought a box of Winchester brand .308 for $21, which is the same basic price per-hysteria) or anything like that, the powder, casings, primer and bullets were just out on the shelf.

My bad I should have been more specific. I was refering to the bulk, small arms. The reloading isles looked full, it was a mad house in there! Only stayed 5 minutes.

He went to the MD BPS.
Powder shelf is a display of what is typically there but the powder locker in back is getting sparse.
No primers are ever stored on the shelf there.
    Primers are sparse as well.
