Put this here because it deals with the FredCo MoCo gerrymandering. The Maryland Citizens Redistricting Commission held an online public hearing this evening. I worked late and missed the live interaction, but am catching up on the YouTube video. Of note, at about the 25m24s point, after Justin Wages blasts them about the MoCo gerrymander, the Chair notes the "the Commission can't pay attention to the political coloration of the localities, or where and incumbent or challenger may live, so spend your 3 minutes talking about something else."

... which totally explains the gerrymandered chunk of MoCo that warps Districts 6 and 8 toward "blue." They "can't consider" my ass.

Is that a joke? It's all about the "political coloration of the localities". I live in the Third Congressional District - take a look at those boundaries and then tell me how they make any sense other than to insure a permanent Democrat seat - ridiculous!

    Cognitive dissonance.

It's hard to figure whether they believe their own BS, or think we're too stupid to understand what they're doing.

As a Western MD resident living in "District 6", I find that statement absolutely repugnant, when that is absolutely the only rationale that can explain this gerrymandered monstrosity of a district. Can't find a cultural, industrial, economic, or geographic reason for it's current boundaries.
