In an effort to "Swiss" up my Sig P556, I installed a new flash hider that I got from MFI LLC. https://mfiap.com/i-8029588-mfi-sig...nly-price-includes-sh-via-1st-class-mail.html
The thing looks fantastic. The mating points match perfectly and it really helps make the look more authentic. It has the 1/2 x 28 threads so installation was basic. I used a Thordsen Customs 3 prong wrench and it worked great. The last picture is the look that I am going for. I have a new Swiss handguard (I had to translate the website from German so I could order, LOL) on the way as well as better backup sights. I am just throwing this out there if anyone is interested. If anyone wants better pictures or different angles, let me know.

Own an early gen SIG 556 and enjoy it greatly. Yours too looks fantastic!

Need to throw an Aimpoint on top and go full Swiss. Should one ever go full Swiss though?

I am a couple of steps closer to my Sig 553 clone made from a P556. I cut down a Sig 550 handguard and and added the vent holes to replicate the Sig 552/553 handguards.

I also added a new front sight and rear sight/rail. No to get into too much detail, but the Sig 553 has the rear sight welded straight to the top of the upper receiver and a different top rail is used. In order to get the sigh height correct on a 556, the rear sight needs to be built into the rail. This will bring the sight height low enough to use the Swiss front sight. MPI makes a really high quality, fantastic looking sight/rail. The rail is nicely painted and has the Swiss cross on the forward end. MPI has a few options to choose from depending on how much you want to spend. I got mine with a hooded front sight and fiber optic inserts. You can get one here: https://mfiap.com/i-23899865-mfi-si...lack-price-includes-sh-via-priority-mail.html

It was a lot easier to replace than I thought that it would be. As a matter of fact, I removed the old rail, installed the new rail, got out my laser boresighter and did not have to adjust a thing.

This has been a fairly lengthy research project to get to where I am now with this firearm, if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.

The MFI sights are pretty great. I use their folding front sight because it works great in conjunction with my LPVOs.
