Received email this morning, called right away. They still have all three options, Service, Field, and Rack available. Selected a field grade. She said it should ship out today and be at FFL tomorrow.

Hmmm. I'm 246XX, so I guess that means I'll be getting the call next week.

    Wow…that one speaks to us!!!
    Beautiful!
    Congratulations!!!!

I failed to sign up the first two times.
Just gonna bite the .45 ACP and get one
on the CMP auction…gotta save a few more
pennies, and then wait for a good
‘44 Remington. I carried an Ithaca many
many years ago - have the serial number
somewhere, probably on an old armory card somewhere. Just think a later Remington
    is a better-made pistol.

Good to know, I'll stop holding my breath! I was starting to think I drew the very last number (30,7xx.) Now I'm wondering if the last people will only have Rack grade left to choose from?

Data from usriflecaliber.30M1 on the CMP forum:

Using 156 data points from the Round 2 Order thread, here is my prediction for Date of Contact with an R^2 of 0.939 (out of 1.00)(very strong correlation).

    RGN Date
    23000 6/27/2021
    24000 7/24/2021
    25000 8/21/2021
    26000 9/18/2021
    27000 10/15/2021
    28000 11/12/2021
    29000 12/9/2021
    30000 1/6/2022
    31000 2/3/2022
    32000 3/2/2022
    33000 3/30/2022
    34000 4/26/2022
    35000 5/24/2022

    Good luck!

That's if Biden doesn't F it up for the CMP.

You can also get a loose idea of how they’re progressing on the ‘1911 Order Thread Round 2’ on the CMP forum http://forums.thecmp.org/showthread.php?t=274428&page=64

When they called me they had Field or Rack as the choice, the next day someone was offered all three. I think it’s really luck of the draw on what they can get through the process at the moment. Given the choice of all three I probably would have picked Service, but am very happy with the Field that I ended up with.

Field and rack were all that was available when I got contacted last Thursday (#2463X). That was frustrating because it looks like earlier in the week service grades were being offered. We'll see what the field grade I ended up ordering looks like. Some seem to be really nice, some, well, they meet the threshold requirements of their grade.

I sent my packet in and before I got my ring number, I saw this US&S on auction and had to get it. They had to find my packet in the trays of mail. I really like the fact that it had a US&S replacement slide so its double marked M 1911 A1 US Army. My wife is still waiting on her call ring # 28XXX.

If your going to "upgrade" the grips, I'll trade or buy them. I may have to break down an make my own rack number grips. Been looking for a three years for some:mad54:

Sweet looking pistol. Glad you won the auction!

Thanks 303! The grips are another reason why I liked the gun. Funny thing they recently sold guns with rack number on either side of my gun and they were both US&S!

Have you submitted a FOIA request for this one yet?

Last week I submitted 2 and within 20 hours I had emailed histories back.

    Here is the link.

    mailto:usarmy.redstone.ldac.mbx.foia@mail.mil

Seems you also need to include somewhere in your request that you would be willing to pay up to $xx dollars for this service. My understand is they would only charge if it took a few hours to research. I was not charged anything.

Mine FOIA was plane Jane as it said in 2010 it was shipped to the army from an outside source.

The second I submitted was for a friend and it came back that in the late 90s it was still in Japan.

Yes I did. Nothing too exciting in it.

The rack grades might be a little more beat up but the chances of getting original finish or even a matched gun are much higher it seems... good luck!

Things are running slower that the prediction above. At around 30,000 I'm looking at Valentine's Day. Looks like around 240-250 per week.
