A friend (RJP3579) and I are planning to purchase GOEX black powder from Track of the Wolf. We each want 5 pounds. We are looking for either 3 or 8 other people to join the purchase. They will only ship 1 or 2 cases of 25 one pound cans. The cannot ship more than 50 pounds at one time due to explosives regulations. They have F, FF, FFF and FFFF. They will mix within the cases. They are all $26.92 each can. We would like to deal in 5 can blocks for simplicity sake. We are both located in Pasadena and are Members of Garrison Rifle club and AGC. We are also both retired Police. Call Russ at 443-517-3375, or russ.hewitt.jr@verizon.net

You beat me to it: I was going to post the same link.

This is the place to buy the Holy Black in any quantity over two pounds. It's where all the N-SSA Skirmishers shop.

You have to make an appointment or go on a skirmish day but he won't open until the matches are over. He does have the best prices and selection.

All of the above. At the price Track of the Wolf sells it the cost is lower at Back Creek Gun Shop. Additionally, if you are driving there you avoid the HAZMAT fees which shoot the cost up much higher. For a 2.5-3 hour drive I'd do that. HAZMAT can run $25-50.
Only thing is, he doesn't carry Swiss Cavier which my rifle seems to like better than the regular Swiss. Swiss seems to burn cleaner than GOEX or Olde Eynsford and a bit more umpf per Grain so use a little less. YMMV

I used to stop there when leaving Fort Shenandoah. Always a big line of cars and trucks.

It's a really nice area for a day trip or a weekend getaway, so call ahead to make an appointment and plan accordingly.

    Or just join the N-SSA.

Swiss definitely burns cleaner and has more umpf. If I shoot my 50 cal flinter with Goex, I use 60 grains of 3f. If I use Swiss, I use 50 grains and get the same results.

I read an interesting article somewhere that explained what wood the Swiss powder is made from as well as the process. Olde Einsford was Goex's attempt to get market share back but IMHO, it isn't worth the extra cost. Now, cartridge shooters love it so for them it may be worth it.

If you buy it in bulk (i.e. a bag) it's usually cheaper (you just need to repackage into a proper container with lot number etc). I think N-SSA members might get a further discount.

Way back in my blackpowder heyday, my buddies and I divvied up a 25 pound bag. One guy volunteered to go get it, his first trip, and he arrived back with the powder in a box in the bed of his truck- and he was wearing a hard hat, safety goggles, and welder's gloves. He seriously was taking no chances if it blew up during the drive. (Never mind the fact he would've been a black speck on I-81 had those 25 pounds blown up, hard hat or not.)

    Still interested In Purchase.

Thanks for the information, but Winchester, VA. is a 4 hour round trip plus a tank of gas. I would save $24.60 on five cans. It would cost way more in gas, plus the time.

I am still looking for people to go in on 1 or 2 cases at $26.92 each. The stuff is almost impossible to find. We are in Pasadena near Baltimore. Or, if anyone else is going to be making a trip South, I would chip in for your gas if you could pick up a few cans for me.

Same problem as you Russ. Where I am, it’s a 10hr round trip to the nearest goex / real bp dealer. Tried the split order an order with folks on our local board, with zero takers.

The hazmat charge is a killer, you need at least several folks to make it seem reasonable. Got zero interest.

You can always make a day of it and stop by Harper's Ferry or go a little further and see Luray Caverns (also an antique car museum there)

Track of the Wolf says the $26.92 price includes shipping and hazmat fees. The only unknown is whether they charge Maryland tax. If they do, the price becomes $28.53 per can/pound.
