I know hunting harrassment is illegal, but is fishing considered hunting?

I was fishing at one of my favorite lakes this evening when 3 late 20/early 30 something "women" and 6 kids came up and with their (I am assuming) mothers egging them on started intentionally getting in my way, throwing rocks in the water and at wherever I cast my lure, etc. The kids couldn't have been more than 3 to 6 at the oldest. They did it to me and another person who was fishing nearby for about 30 minutes before I took out my phone and acted like I was calling the police at which point they all took off in 2 cars. The other guy recorded them on his chest-mounted Go-Pro. At least 2 of the parents were recording us with their cell phone I think hoping for a reaction from one of us, we ignored them as much as we could.

If so and it happens again in the future who do i report it to? DNR? Natural Resources Police? MNCPPC Park Police? It was around 7:30pm this evening so I assume after hours?

It is indeed illegal to intentionally interfere with lawful fishing activities.

Call DNR and reference code 4-506.1

A friend was fishing in his boat off of Solomon's and some jet skis kept buzzing him. He called on CH16 for help MD DNR was out and about checking stuff and caught the jet skis. They said they did not do anything however my friend had everything on a gopro even them giving him the finger. They were all escorted back to the boat launch allowed to put their jet skis on their trailers and then stuffed and cuffed.

I'm a Natural Resources Police Reserve Officer (non-LEO volunteer) and I wasn't sure about this either, so I asked my Sgt. last night and he said in a case like this the best advice would be to call the NRP and they would send an officer to talk with both parties and see if they could correct the problem without writing anyone up. Their primary concern would be to make sure that things didn't escalate to the point of a violent confrontation. Sorry you experienced that situation. Certainly not the kind of example that we should be setting for young children.

To those Karen's you are a fish murderer. Just one notch above a Bambi murderer or child molester.

I would not bank on NRP rushing to your aid over this. While it doesn't seem that way, they are stretched thin and we often have extended response times if we do need them for something. And of course, like a drug dealer, the Karen's send children to do the dirty-work, so if it even if NRP SWAT corners them in their suburban home, they will claim that 'the kids were just playing'. Unless you have video of an adult doing something clearly intentional that can't be explained with a otherwise legal activity (e.g. a cayaker just passing through) AND you have a license plate or boat number, there isnt anything the oyster police can do.

Why without writing someone up? If these beeches are breaking the law then they should be penalized.

In my opinion this is why they will always do it. They see no consequences for them.

Haven't you heard? "Child molester" is an offensive term. They are simply people who enjoy sex with toddlers, a perfectly normal sexual function... much like transgender and anything else that was (probably still is) considered a mental defect. Your use of that term here is offensive...

    That is unbelievable.

I was kayak fishing along the bank of the Columbia Island marina lake. Working my way down the bank, about 15 yards off.

I heard a plop on either side of my boat and was like, wtf?

I turn around and there was a bassboat with two assh%les on it, casting on either side of me. I brought in my line, turned around, and said "Really? We are the only two boats fishing on this big piece of water and you have to crowd me? That's effed up." They mumbled something, then moved on.

Not sure what they were thinking....

I personally don't disagree with you, but I think that most officers would rather use the opportunity to teach if they can.... now if the adults got in the officer's face and became aggressive, I'd bet on a different outcome. There probably is a good middle road to walk though if the persons are open to being civil and learning from the situation.

I would have gone off on the bitches and their kids about common courtesy!

Year ago while fishing from the jetty at Sandy Point SP an ahole comming from the ramp was way to close and tangling fishing lines. A few of the guys up from me waited until he got close and all three banged the shit out of his fiberglass with 2 or 3 ounce sinkers. He took off very quickly. I laughed my ass off!

That can't be. I've heard most officers prefer shooting people to talking

OP, that sucks. I’m glad you kept your cool.
I think I’ve posted this on here before, but years ago when my son was young I had a woman and I’m guessing her daughter, harass me while we were fishing.

She started yelling at me, calling me cruel, and “how can you teach your son to be cruel to animals”.
I tried to talk reason to her, but she wasn’t having it. Eventually, she just walked away.
