I have owned and put many rounds thru both the 19x and the 45. Tell me what makes the 45 better?
The 19X has compatibility issues with 17rd gen5 mags. It also lacks the forward slide serrations and improved gen5 magwell/opening. Neither is the world's biggest deal, but it does make the 45 an overall better gun.

I don't do Range toys all my guns are able to carry so I'm a huge fan of the model 19 so I have 4 of them and a 17 and 43 for times when I have to have something smaller, The 17 is a permanent truck gun.

    ^^THIS. I have some G19's. Closest thing to a perfect 9mm IMHO

I had my slide milled by primary machine. Unbelievable job! As for Glock MOS , there’s a reason it sounds like POS.

One thing I am taking from this thread; pretty much everyone says get the slide cut after the fact as opposed to an MOS model.
If you’re worried about being married to a specific optics footprint, you can also get your slide milled to accept aftermarket plates like Unity Tactical or Agency Arms. Glock MOS is better than nothing, but you have to get very tall sights to have any chance of being able to see your backup irons in the optics window.

So looking at handgunhero.com where I can compare different models; the 17 is the most similar to my current Glock 21 and CZ75. The 19 looks a bit small in the handle. I think I am going with a 17 (or maybe a 45) and will get the slide cut for a Vortex Viper red dot.

    Thanks - food for thought.

Maybe a 19 Mariner if you ever need to shoot underwater? No threaded barrel though. If you want threaded I like the 44. Silly quiet.

Admittedly the only Glock I own for carry is my 43. I did grab a 34 race gun from Topps (milled slide, RMR, fully stippled, trigger massaged) added a new 17 to the mix, stirred in some aftermarket parts and came up with a 2 gun bag of 34s that can be converted to compete in Open, Limited, and Carry Optics divisions is all the major shooting organizations.

Definitely put at least a 19, 17, and 34 in your hands before you decide (and in different generations). Glock finger grooves just don't work for me, and I don't think I'd have ever bought a Glock if they all had them...but my wife feels the other way. As crazy as it may sound, that little bit of extra nose heaviness of the 34 over the 17 just makes it feel "right" to me

Since you aren't looking to CC it, size really only matters to how it fits your hand. Go big if you want...they all work (it is, after all, a Glock ;) )

I have a G17 Gen 4 and it's the only Glock I've ever shot. It's an ugly little bastid but it's accurate and just plain works. I put fiber optic (green) sights on it from TruGlo and had Engage replace the trigger with something, I forget what it was.

Almost same here. No Truglo’s. Trigger upgrade was a successful smooth and polish in the right places. Not an endearing pistol but gets the job done.

I am told the Timney trigger is a game-changer for Glock competition usage. I will probably give it a try in my remaining Glock 17.

    If it's a range toy, 17 or 34.

    As far as 9mm I have a 17, 19, 48, 43X, and 43. 19 and 48 shoot best for me. I'll probably get rid of the 43 and 17.

But if it's just a range toy, no reason not to go full size.
