My issue is I only have a six year old iPhone to take pics. Pull far enough away to show the entire firearm, and it’s blurry. Get close enough for a clear pic and it’s too small of an area to get any perspective...

Forget the SVT-40, go look at the Nazi marked Star! If it's not a faked example (yes they exist) then @ $450 it's selling for at least half price. Click here for a great primer on what to look for on a real vs fake marked German WW2 issue Star B.

Another thing to look for on the Star is that the extractor is straw-colored and not purple (which indicates a refinish).
The barrel chamber area should be natural finish, not blued.
THe Bulgarian contract, which is used as the base for the faking 99% of the time, has S/N ranges of:
(9/9/43) 225007-225775; 226101-230331
(12/2/43) 230332-230375; 230826-231756; 231758-235782
(3/23/44) 235901-240900
They fall in between and around the German contract pistols.

The genuine Waffenamt-marked Stars go for more like 3-5 times that price depending on condition and which shipment it was in.
