Anyone know any shops that carry IMR 4227 near Western Maryland (Hagerstown) ?

I bought my 30-06 and my mold and want to try it with 4198 and 4227 but can't find the latter and want to avoid shipping and hazmat for 1 # of powder.

Give RSP Gun Shop a call.

Located in Falling Waters WV, first exit off I81 in WV, just south of Hagerstown.

I also ready spoke with RSP and she does not have it. Hafers has two stores and I just sent them an e-mail. I don't even remember seeing a reloading section in Hagerstown.

Use 16 grains of 2400. It won't give you the same power that 32 gns of 4227 will but, unless you are hunting, it will shoot good groups on paper.

I threw that into GRT and 16 grains was 1400FPS and a shallow bump on the curve. Now 30 grains made a respectable curve and 2264 FPS.

I just saw 4227 reading 2533 with 38 grains of 4227 and got all excited to try it. 32 grains was 2242 fps

And this is all for hunting in the long run.

If it is for hunting, you will need one of the other powders. I wouldn't load 2400 up that high in a bottleneck case.

The only place I have seen 4227 in stock was at Green Top yesterday. Too far for you, but they had a bunch on the shelf.
