Has anyone had any luck asking a company who says they don't want to ship to Maryland to remove the 30 rounder and then ship? The rifle is not banned here so no sure any other reason they don't want to ship here.

Just because YOU SAY it's not banned, doesn't mean the seller will a)believe you or b)bother to do the research needed to verify it.

It's somewhat still a sellers market so unsurprisingly, sellers just say no to MD.

the time to check on their MD policy is before you buy. Usually they are explicit "we don't ship to MD (NJ, etc)"

Yes and some companies will also ship magazines to an alternate out of state address where you could legally pick it up

Others don't want to mess with it

There are many ammo suppliers and firearms distributors that simply wont try to do it. If there is any gray area that is in question then they just dont ship. Can you blame them just because we have sad politicians that made shitty laws. Most wont ship anything to places like California or New York. I have bought a VZ58 shipped here but they kept the 30 round mag at the FFL. Same with an upper I ordered in 6.8SPC. It came with a 30 round mag for some reason and the FFL took it out of box and kept it. Maybe look at a different supplier? Just saying

MD rifle laws are especially confusing. Apparently the MDSP site is sometimes not even correct. If the MDSP don't even know, why as a random seller would I take the risk when I can sell to 20 million other people.

If you can get the MD FFL taking the transfer to email them, "yes its legal, " that's your best shot. But then, if I were a MD FFL, I probably just offer to sell you the rifle if I could.

Yeah I know you can buy the gun in MD. It's a LWRC, you can just get them much cheaper online than I'm seeing at my FFL at least.

Every gun dealer is different. I have had some sellers be ok with removing the mag, some had to call or email my receiving FFL to make sure it was ok, some flat out refused, and one forgot to remove the 30rd mag, so the FFL kept it, and I got the rifle without the mag. You'll have to find out from the seller, and if your receiving FFL is willing to respond to any questions they have, that would be extremely helpful. Buds won't do anything for us here in MD, so if you are looking at Buds, forget it.

Is it still cheaper after you factor in transfer fees? How many FFL's have you tried in MD?

Yes, ~1350 if I get it shipped, this includes the transfer fee and BG check. 1550 from the FFL website. Only one I have checked though locally.

I actually have a banned gun coming from buds this week. Last time that happened they were good about sending a return shipping label. I have emailed and called shops to get high cap mags sent. Some shops are good about it and others aren’t. Best to get it worked out before you buy. At least in your case them keeping the mag is no big deal. Not the case for some firearms. It could be substantial money to replace some mags. If I get them in I block them.
    Nice gun
    Good luck

i have had a few send the mag to my dad in VA. I paid shipping but it was still cheaper than getting them in VA or PA.

Check some other FFL's. There are plenty of good FFLs who are IP's here on the forum.

Give Dan a call at Baltimore's Best Pawn. He is an IP on this Forum and also carries LWRC. He will treat you great.

I gave up on trying to get long guns transferred to MD FFL years ago. Cheaper fee snd I keep the mags going thru DE FFL.
Are you near DE or PA?
