New gun light. Looks like a winner on paper: 400 lumens. Will run for 70 minutes continuous.

No strobe, I like that. Its bigger and brighter brother (1200 lumens) does have a strobe option.

What I like most is its tiny size, and it has a magnetic recharging connection, like many of the newest flashlights, so recharging its internal battery is super easy. Can even just charge it still on the gun, so its always fully charged and ready to go.

    $65.

Excellent review. I work with a guy that looks and acts almost exactly like this guy.

    A couple things....
    1) holsters- blackpointtactical seems to be about the only place making holsters for the pl2 I picked up. Holster availability for this is going to suck. A wml doesn't help if you can't carry it on the gun when you need it.
    2) Throw- candela for this is only 1,400. So in other words, it's lots of flood, but won't project very far. in contrast, a tlr3 at only 125 lumens has 5,300 candela. This is a big problem if you intend to carry this outside of your house, where you may need to identify a threat further out or through photonic barriers.
    3) integral battery- it makes sense to make it small, but if you need to use the light for a long time, it's pretty nice to be able to just throw in spare batteries and instantly be topped off again instead of having to wait for your light to charge.

For a carry gun, the tlr1hl seems to just outperform everything else. The pl2 I have is cool, but the controls are a long reach and not as intuitive or fast as my tlr1. For momentary, you're stuck waiting a half second or so to keep from just clicking the light on. The mechanical switch of the tlr1 allows for a fast blip of light if that's all you need.

I see that Blackpointtactical.com is making holsters for the Olight Valkyrie mini

A couple issues I’m already finding with this light, in the few days I’ve been testing it:

The switch is a solid push down, almost impossible to get it to momentarily flash on/off with a single touch. It usually takes two deliberate clicks to do this. But it’s easy enough. I do like that it’s full intensity and no strobe.

It fills up a large room with enough light, and creates a good sized ~42” ‘warm spot’ at about 3-5 yards, which is a very realistic defensive shooting distance. Closer it naturally gets a tighter hot spot. There’s a slight yellow at the very center of the spot.

So far I’m still really liking it. Letting a buddy examine one of them too, while I continue testing another. Will compare notes with him.

I have had one for a couple of months and I like it. I also have a couple of their edc flashlights, been very happy with them as well.

Smokey's points are well taken, it doesn't have that 'blip' momentary, which would be nice and I'd like to see some greater availability of IWB holsters. Mine sits on a 'bedroom' gun, so no holster is needed, but it does keep me from putting it on a carry weapon, as I don't have a holster that will accommodate it yet..

I do like the small size, very light weight, USB charging and the performance is good for such a small light.

I hit the flash sale without checking to see if it fit. Olight was fast shipping, and I received it in short order. Unfortunately, the PL-Mini does NOT fit the Walther P99.

I do find that the on off switch on the PL-Mini has a sharp edge to it, and that the spring tension is a bit high for my liking. Quite bright though.
