Not sure, but the easiest way not to get the hammer is to not have a goal of getting your post count up in order to sell stuff.
Instead of looking at the forum as a marketplace with a minimum post count, try considering it a community with a place where community members can sell things.
Then your question would be, "How do I become a member of this community?"
