I made a major jump in my WWI rifle collection acquisitions this week.
Dumped a few modern pistols in the past few months and moved the $ over to something that was more important to me in the long run.
1 at the show and 3 from a fellow MDS member (Thanks! and shout out if you are ok to be identified )
(I think I have these properly identified)
Carcano 91/24 Carbine dated 1917
Steyr M95
French Berthier 1907/15 by Delaunay-Belleville
Enfield No1MK3 manufactured Action by SSA
Gew88/05
Winchester Model of 1917
Mosin 1891
The Gew88 and M17 I have had a few years before the prices had jumped up. Calvary Carbine was a Royal Tiger acquisition. The bore is pretty nasty just like many of the ones they sell/sold.
I plan to still look for a Gew98
One thing I read about the Gew88/05 is that they had regimental marks on the front band. This one was the 15th reserve Regiment 1st company 46th man.
As the gun was refurbed at some time, that band may not have stuck with this gun and could have come from another. Still, its interesting to see the ID they put on it.
The M17 and the Enfield are my favorites Both shoot well. Had the Enfield out to the range for the first time today.
