Whatever happened to the 1911 80 percent lower kits? they appear to have disappeared from the market. there are numerous ar and glock lower kits for 45 acp, but no 1911s. I was looking for a 1911 lower kit with jig.

so is it really as difficult to make as I have read? Fit and finish? Almost to the unique individual level?

difficult...no not really. but you will need some tools, files, a jig, some
Patience, blending, fitting, filing, can be time consuming, basically the
end result is the reflection of you, you get out of it what you put into it.
The investment in jigs & tools can add up quickly and doing just one. There
are some on here who have built 1911's also. I prefer Stainless Steel frames,
non-ramped, SS parts, barrels depends. To put it simple it is some work, fitting
and getting the slide to frame fit "smooth" barrel and the link.. The first one
done, took my time, runs smooth and each one after just gets better.
Check out some Bob Marvel videos or notes. Kinda like building MP5's / Uzi's and
    AK 47 / 74's / Krinks....In ending it ain't no "AR" assembling...

    Jigs and some tools here..
