Old Mill Student Arrested Carrying Loaded Handgun
Police Say Video Posted On Social Media Tipped Them Off

Millersville, MD (Arundel News Network/AAFA)- School officials are encouraging parents to talk to their kids about guns tonight, after an incident involving a gun at Old Mill High School. Anne Arundel County Police say they were alerted Tuesday evening about a video on social media showing an unknown male in a school building with a handgun. Officers quickly identified 18 year old Old Mill High School student, Maleek Benjamin, as the suspect in that video. Police worked with the School Resource Officer at Old Mill to locate Benjamin in class Wednesday. A letter sent home to parents from the school’s principal says the SRO located a loaded weapon from Benjamin’s coat inside the classroom, while the suspect waited in the office.
Benjamin is charged with the following:
Possession of a Firearm under 21
Dangerous Weapon on School Property
Handgun on Person
Loaded Handgun on Person
