Despite the somewhat clickbait title and a bit of shade thrown at the NRA (possibly a decision by an editor vs journalist), this is actually a pretty nice article in Time magazine about the increasing popularity of high school shooting sports (focusing on trap) over the last few years. Long read, but paints high school student participation in a largely positive light.

I have a friend who is the coach for a high school marksmanship team in Hawaii, of all places. He says they use air rifles and .22 and his team usually does very well in local competitions.
