We are all diminished by this loss.

That was fun times. I'm thinking of bass beer in a pitcher down at the cape.

Oh man, on one of those jaunts I had to be carried back home after we spent 5 hours in the bar.

I wish I had met him. I am grateful for what he has done. We should honor his legacy by respecting this forum and keeping up the high standards we have come to enjoy. May he rest in peace.

    OMG! How sad to hear!

I met Don at one of the Delmarva shoots years ago. What a terrific guy. He's the primary reason this website exists today.

    You'll be missed, Don. RIP!

Wow, what a shocking kick to the nuts for our community of enthusiasts. The silver thread of life is ever fragile and tenuous. We know not the hour but pray it will come after we've had our fair balance of good times. Sadly, the harvester appears impatient and imperfect in his use of the hourglass. May the Author of Infinity welcome Don to the Perpetual Table of Brotherhood.

He created something that changed many lives, and Maryland too, for the better. Thank you, and R.I.P., DD214. My condolences to his family, friends, and those who didn't know him personally but whose lives he touched.

Nearly 30,000 members, 16 years in duration, influence far beyond its numbers, and bringing together tens of thousands of people across the nation in a site that contains more truth, more folly, and more interesting individuals than any other place I've been; all this is a suitable monument to an idea possibly formulated under the influence of a drink with a little umbrella in it, and to the man who ran with it.

Never met the man, but will always be grateful for what he gave us.

His recent posts were my first exposure to DD214. He seemed like a great guy. I sad that I won't get to meet him.

This forum and its activism is a hell of a legacy.

Don's sister posted these on Twitter ...

I don't personally know her, but Don had shared a bit about her via PM when he returned. So I checked now after Norton posted the sad news.
