Everyone should carry a knife at all times.

You never know when you might need to cut a bit of string.

Boy, what would have happened if the Demwits were in charge back in the day. I regularly went to school with a shotgun in my trunk AND 2 boxes of ammo from September to December.

    Oh.... the humanity!

What are the odds that there really were bullets, and the cops just told her they were dummy rounds to keep hysterics low.

Why would dummy rounds be falling out of the trash in the first place?

The earplugs pic was a joke. It's from the Ferguson riots. Sorry for the attempt at humor. I just felt like they were calling fishing weights bullets.

I tried to get clarity on what was actually found, but could not.
Sounds like they found the exact same thing at Crofton Middle. Both places the garbage truck had been that morning and the police believe whatever it was that they found was likely from the truck and not brought to the schools by anyone. I feel like spent casings or complete inert rounds would have been treated as a threat if found at two different schools.

Still, no clue what it is that they found. Everyone started calling them training dummies and blanks.

    What are "Spent Dummy Rounds"?

The plastic things used to simulate a misfire or whatever...I forget what they are called.

EDIT: brand of clear red is Snap Caps. But perhaps these since Snap Caps clearly are just plastic

Those may be considered "Dummy Rounds", but what about the "Spent Dummy Rounds" mentioned in the article?

Maybe there was an LEO practice at the school after hours and they left the spent cases from the Sims there. I have seen that before in numerous places. They never get them all picked up.

Maybe it was brass from a .22-powered masonry hammer. You gotta watch those Masons when you're south of the Mason-Dixon line.

This is most probably the answer.... any construction work taking place at the school (over the summer???)? Contractor cleans up, throws debris in trash, and it falls through the cracks when dumpster is tilted.

This came from a mom at Crofton Elementary. Her youngest picked them up at the bus loading area.
I think that this is really weird to have fall out of a dump truck at three schools.
I think it's a snap cap but do you think it is a blowback training round?

That looks like a UTM training round...goes bang and cycles firearm. Can almost make out the UTM stamped on the case.
