    TargetSportsUSA update:

After my email exchange with Lt. Hall I sent a very detailed email 8/3 to TargetSportsUSA explaining it was legal to ship ammo to DC and here is my email exchange with a DC Police Lt. and here is a copy of my firearms registration card. Would you be willing to treat DC like CT, IL, MA and NJ which you will ship to if you get a permit uploaded.

Never heard back from them but the other day they did have some ammo I was looking for.
Logged in and uploaded my registration card (was not able to do that before) and placed my order.

Not sure if I slipped through the crack somehow or if they changed their policy, but the order went through, was shipped and delivered.

Website still says no ammo sales to DC so YMMV.

I've had good luck with targetsport so far. Uploaded my registrations and they've been shipping.

That's excellent news! Thanks for your help on getting this knocked loose.

I also did have some preliminary discussions in August with the VP of OPs for Miwall Corp https://miwallcorp.com/ where he was very amendable to relaxing their no DC shipments policy.

They were shipping to CT, IL, NY and NJ with proof of firearms registration but not to MA and DC.

We were going to discuss further so that he would then "be comfortable to change those policies" but for whatever reason Miwall then went and changed all their policies in September and stopped all shipments to CT, IL, NY and NJ.

Anyone tried talking some sense into LAX Ammo? When I pressed them on their policy they said,

"Ammo laws for shipping ammunition to DC from out of states are murky and as a company we rather not risk doing something illegal."

Which is understandable from a business perspective but still makes me want to bang my head against the wall given all the companies that do ship to DC with no consequence.

I have email correspondence from Lt Hall on the legality of shipping C&R guns to DC that I will whip out if I need to for that, but don't have any similar exchange I can point to when it comes to ammo.

If you want to quote Lt Hall from my above email discussion with him:

"It has been the interpretation of MPD that you may purchase ammunition online directly."

He is no longer at firearms office and the new Lt seems less 2a friendly but who knows.

I don't see their shipping policies on their site but if they ship to other places with proof of firearms ownership like IL foid or MA/CT/NJ that all require registration then shipping to DC that also requires registration should be allowed.

Ultimately though their shop their rules.

Just like some pro-2A groups with state law breakdowns had more restrictions than actually there for years after ammo laws on calibers changed' and as VCDL people were pushing John Lott's debunked "forbidden zones" and just like people from Virginia here on these forums insisted; even after multiple corrections, that the wording of the DC CCPL meant non residents could not get DC Carry permits, there is just endless misinformation.

When had you last ordered from steelcity? Their website says "Washington D.C.— No Sales. We will not ship ANY items to the District of Columbia."

Also, Buds now has a popup that they're not shipping to DC anymore.

Trying to buy some 9mm now that prices have come down and it is not easy!

Back in July, I think they had just opened up and I guess I snuck one in before they put restrictions up.

dweissman -- how hard are you trying? Things might not be at the price you want or the exact brand you want but many of the places listed above have 9mm in stock:
    Ammunitionstore
    LG-Outdoors
    TrueShot
    TallTales
    MidSouth

ammoseek show me new brass 9mm is averaging about $.36/round. The 5 places I listed above are closer to $.40 and above but they all ship to DC.

Thanks - will probably order from ammunitionstore as I have done so in the past and they've been helpful.

I did decide to give Tall Tales a shot since their shipping was a little cheaper - sorry to report that they go by the amended-since-2012 rule that one can only own the ammo listed on their registration certificate(s). No response when I provided the appropriate links about the change, and they cancelled my order, so ammunitionstore it is!
