    Hello,
I am looking to purchase this jig for a few lowers. Does anyone have one and can give me their honest feedback. After my research, this appears to be the easiest and fast way to mill them without having a drill press.
    Thanks in advance!

    Another thread

5d Tactical is the best jig out there. I believe this is a copy of that concept, but I have no experience with it personally (5d I can say is phenomenal)

Another thread someone stated that they think both companies in fact the same. I have the previous version. Gen 2. Have not used yet

5d Tactical is the best jig out there. I believe this is a copy of that concept, but I have no experience with it personally (5d I can say is phenomenal)

That right now is debatable.. some are pissed, as 5D changed the router plate
to, and they quote "Ultra-Durable glass-filled nylon increases longevity over
traditional plates prone to dings." they were called out on this. as the website
made no mention of it at the time and people were getting the so-called "new
and improved" version, guess after being "caught on it" they updated the site.
Some are saying "bait n switch"....

    I have them all...
Modulus Arms, Easy Jig Gen 3, 5D Tactical (pre new & improved version).
And older versions...(they are in the boat...waiting for the trip)

Modulus Arms .... has gone slient like they did in the past.
the site lists them on back-order and that has been for months.
When emailed about the jig status..more or less response took
weeks and according to them are still going to make Jigs, don't know.
I prefered their jig over the 5D as it was like the updated version of it.
So.. Modulus Arms ...you can basically scratch them off the list, only
thing you hear is nothing.crickets maybe...
    Delivery...... who knows

5D Tactical, has gone to the skeleton side plates, "fiber router plate" and
some are having issues with the new plate, the play in the plate, etc Plus
some are pissed at the way they handled it. And kept the price the same. I
don't have the new and improved version, prefer to pass on it.. there is
discussion on this at AR15 forum.
And...to add...a comment from some one else
I used the 5D but a word to the wise replace the selector drill guides with
harden pieces. I'm waiting to hear back from them on "wearing" one out
    that they say won't happen
    Delivery.......8 weeks or more

80% Arms Easy Jig Gen version 3, has gone the skeleton side plates also..
BUT has an aluminum router plate. Works great, well made. of these this
    one would get my vote..
Delivery..... ranges from 4-6 weeks average...don't know about now given
the current things, but about 4 weeks ago that was the time frame.

Some mention about them all looking the same except the etch markings,
colors, and minute things. There's claimed to be one engineer / designer for
all 3, there was a court battle, a gag order, settlement reached. Pretty much
silent, after that, there was some discussion about that a few years ago. So
some seem to think that 5D & 80% jigs come from one source.

Once again if I were to buy it would be the Easy Jig Gen 3, pick up an
extra Speed mill to be safe. I think they are 290 now, not sure. Picked up
some end mills for it, some extra drill bits..elsewhere

So... take it slow, take hash marks and do half. use plenty of oil / cutting oil
some use WD40, Tap Magic for Aluminum, and Relton A9, plus other stuff
Used Tap Magic, switched to A9, seems better...keep the chips cleaned out
    from where your milling...

Make sure you wear goggles, safety glasses, ear protection, a good Vac as
    those aluminum bits go everywhere...
Have fun. any questions I'll try and help...

To add.... 80% lowers are getting harder to get and the pricing are going up.
places are going to "pre-order" route, parts are getting harder to come by,
not all but the selection is shrinking, with the Current climate with anything
doing with 80% stuff..then routers DWP 611's are out of stock, some of the
others also, people appear to be getting everything they can...just like components.
which is obvious with all the questions about 80%, building (assembly) and new
    reloaders...

a few tips I should of added.
If you can put up a cardboard like box
"U" shaped around your set-up, enough room
to work in and about 2-3 feet high, that will contain
a lot of the chips in one central place, trust me they
go everywhere. This way they mainly have one spot
to go. You can make it out of what ever you need to,
all your trying to do is limit the clean-up and some
kind of clothing that basically keeps them off you. a
decent light so you can see what you are doing. when
you get done each pass and go to adjust the router for
another cut, wipe off the router plate and the top of the
jig plate, will save some wear and tear on the surfaces.
also vacuum out the side slots or use air compressor,A liitle air.
I've found the cleaner you keep everything the better. Another
tip is if you'll notice when you first turn the router on it torgues
to one side, so either hold on tight when you do so, will save
you a lot of *&^&$$%. Another tip is if you want is get one of
those foot operated switches, that way you can hold on to the
router with both hands while you use your foot to turn it on / off.
A good solid mounted vice to hold the work. I personally picked up
a cheap 6" milling vice, thing weighs about 25+ pounds or more. You
don't have to but some suggestions. Have fun and enjoy. Be Safe..

From what I have all 3 versions, would say yes, now
my understanding it depends on who the supplier is
on the mills is at the time only cosmetic differences,
basically the same mills Short of it is "YES" . some
Vincent ( videos ) some are making changes even with
in the same version example Modulus Top plate the
locations on the mounting the side plates you may or
may not get the same as pictured on the website, they
still work, the the router guides may be one piece buttons
that are threaded or it may be 2 piece a screw that goes
into the button, the threads are NOT the same size. No biggie
but if you want to swap parts between may present a problem
or get replacement parts... (just a Heads up) While this should
not effect anything to do with the mills. Just trying to cover all
    bases.

    This may answer your question

these work great as replacement mills / bits

this may also work for you but remember it may depend on which
    trigger system you use
