Another old trade find. I have had this one for years and never got around to checking it out. It is in rough shape with only a bolt body. It looks like it was accurized with bailing wire to hold it together. The mum was poorly ground off but half the engraving is still visible on the bottom.

Is there any value to trying to bring it back, or is it only a fireplace hanger?

You might be better off buying a complete shooter in better shape, It looks pretty rough in the pics. If the bore is decent and you can find the parts you need for not too much then maybe.

    Where they send me.
Looks pretty rough. Bolt parts are $$ and you're missing a good % of the bolt.

I would work up a list of everything you need (if the bore cleans up) and price it to determine the path forward.

If bore was dark, is that after cleaning? is that a version that did NOT have chrome lining?

You need a firing pin, firing pin spring, and safety knob to complete the bolt. You're also missing the rear barrel band spring. I can't see the bolt stop (obviously) but not sure if that's all there as well. Given the condition of the wood, the pretty major-looking rust on the bolt handle, and the split at the butt dovetail, I'd say clean off the worst of it, stop the rust, and keep it as a curio. There are better guns to be had out there for the same money it would take to even get this one complete right now. I just restored a Concentric-Circle Type 38 a few months back that was missing the FP spring and safety knob. Those two parts alone set me back $100 and that's only because a friend had the safety knob (which was unobtainium at the time).

If you DO decide to rebuild it, I have a spare FP that I could sell you if you wind up needing one.
