I'm not a hunter but I do have one hunting rifle. I bought it because it's both vintage (1957) and mechanical art. It's a Mannlicher Shoenauer Model 1956 in .308 with factory mounted rings and a Weaver K4F:

Your pictures of that when you got it is part of the reason my interested has piqued recently

Before and after pics of 1913-vintage Savage M1899H .22 High Power that I restored/built a couple years ago. I fitted a spare .303 Savage barrel to it also.

That's a few of 'em. Do I prefer vintage/classic stuff? Well.....

Bunch of nice old rifles Noahhh, hard to beat the classics.

I'm thinking about this Paul Jaeger Model 70 custom in 22-250 but I don't know about all those squiggly lines all over the receiver:):)

Thats pretty cool, i’d love to see more about this rebuild process. That could be a thread of its own.

I had a bunch of pics taken while the project progressed, but they were/are on Photobucket and since I refuse to pay their now usurious fees I may never be able to share them again.

Basically I started out with a severely rusted receiver and filed/sanded/polished it. Found enough parts in my stash (and other people's stashes) to complete it, both barrels had perfect bores but rough exteriors which needed restoration also, then rust blued everything and had the lever color case hardened. The stock was hand made by me, and fitted with an original crescent butt plate and an ebony grip cap, then given 10 coats of spar varnish rubbed out between coats.
