I have been asked by a friend to install a bipod on an AR15 upper he has recently acquired.

It has a round handguard that was NOT intended to have accessories mounted on it. There is a 3/8" hole in the bottom about 1-1/2" from the end which was apparently drilled by the previous owner.

We are unsure as to the purpose of the hole since it is too large for most sling mounts and a 3/8" QD will not hold in the hole because the metal is too thick for the retaining balls to fully deploy when released.

I need suggestions for a mount that can either use or cover this 3/8" hole and hold a bipod securely to the aluminum handguard. Any help would be appreciated.

Update: I installed the one suggested by Qbeam. It had a little too much length on the part that goes through the handguard so I placed a piece of bicycle inner tube between it and the handguard on the inside. This also allowed me to index the sling button hole properly. The bipod was then attached and it is quite solid. I am happy with the result so my friend should be as well. Thanks again, gents.
