    PHH Arval in Sparks, MD

There are a couple openings at my company for anyone interested, PM me if you want to apply, so I can attatch my name to your app, and I will put in a good word for you. The apps for my department are listed below, there are other positions available in other departments, I might not have as much pull in those other departments, but I will put in a good word none the less.

There are also opportunities for tellecommuting, where you only have to drive in a day or two per month, and work the rest of the time from home. ASE certification tests are also paid for pass or fail, and there are lots of training opportunities from manufacturers.

For the most part, it takes about a year to get through all the training and to get a tellecommuting position, however there have been cases where someone gets it after a couple months, normally with a split shift, like 8-12& 4-8 5 days a week. Other departments may get you tellecommuting faster, but I am not sure on the details.

several different shifts and hours available, usually including weekends, closed on thanksgiving, christmas, and new years, full medical, dental, vision ADD, life ins and 401k benefits, lots of overtime is available paid at time and 1/2, most hollidays are paid double time and include an extra day of vacation.

Respond to customer inquiries in a call center environment.

Administer client fleet policy in an efficient and professional manner.

Identify potential sales opportunities or service concerns based on regular driver contact.

Develop and maintain effective business relationships with drivers as client-specific fleet policy dictates.

Stay abreast of the status of client fleet policy and company relations as well as automotive industry news in order to problem-solve and consult with the driver.

    Qualifications:

High school education or equivalent is required.

Must possess strong customer service skills, basic knowledge of vehicle parts, the ability to follow procedures and company policies, and the ability to operate a personal computer.

Bilingual (Spanish speaking) skills are a plus.

Note: Opportunities exist in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Sparks, MD

    service specialist 38K-42K Job Description:

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced automotive and truck technicians seeking a change from a shop environment. Apply your skills and expertise with an industry leader!

Responsible for responding to incoming calls from drivers and suppliers and resolving inquiries concerning technical and non-technical work.

    Provide service assistance and directions.

Negotiate repair prices when appropriate and issue authorizations for valid repairs to lower the client's vehicle maintenance repair costs while ensuring repairs which are essential to the safe operation of the vehicles.

This position is a customer service oriented position and will not provide the opportunity for hands-on vehicle repair in a shop environment.

    Qualifications:

    High school education or equivalent.

ASE certifications and 3 years hands-on auto mechanic experience and 2 years of management and/or customer service experience.

Ability to make decisions using established procedures and company policies as guidelines.

    anything involving tractor trailers?

    We oversee a few thousand.

We don't drive the trucks, or actually do repairs to them, we basically manage fleets.

The day to day job for those positions is to talk to drivers and shops all over N. America, direct drivers to affiliated shops for repair, and to oversee the estimates from the shops, and repairs that are done. There are also truck specialist positions open from time to time, money is a little better than the service specialist position, and there is more involved work, like dealing with equipment companies and engineers, and in other positions you also act as a consultant to some capacity for the fleets and a tech assist line for the shops. 90% of the work is done over the phone or through the internet.

not to be a dick or anything and I can speak three languages but I dont see the reason why people need to speak Spanish to get a job. Yah it looks good when you speak more languages but unless you're doing some travelling to spanish speaking countries it should not be required.

No one ever helped me when I was learning the language. All I had were books and dictionaries and I did not expect people to speak the language when I arrived.

I lived in Japan and Italy. I always had a handy book translator and did not expect them to speak the language when I went to a store and from my experience. If you even try to speak the language or have a translator with you. People look at you differently and treat you with some respect. They will actually try to help you and it's a good way to meet girls.

I agree, and most people in my department don't speak spanish, however, we have clients and operations in Puerto Rico, (french also helps, we also have operations in Quebec) so we try to accomidate them as best we can, domestic calls are english only, and it is not a requirement.

Alucard, are you looking for any Mechanics, or just fleet management only? I have a buddy that was laid off a few months ago. He was a manager for UPS and some sort of senior dispatcher for a few trucking companies. I will have him send an APP in, but no special favors please :) I have another bud that was doing mechanic work for DC (school buses, postal cars, state vehicles etc.) and his company lost the contract. I think I have him a job lined up as a diagnostician at an auction, but just in case I may have him send you an app if you need technicians as well.

We don't do an actual repairs, but use techs in a consultant capacity, former techs who are strong in diagnostics is a big +. Most people in my department were techs that either got fed up with the flat rate rat race, got injured, or just got too old, and wanted to leave the shop and wanted something simpler. I spent about 10 years in the shop, and hold 18 ASE certifications, but after a couple good injuries, and being completely disgusted with my last job, I wanted something more reliable with benefits, and a salary instead of the old good week/bad week flat rate work.

We deal with a lot of factory reps from the big 3, and with equipment upfitters, but for the most part we try to save the clients money from shops that either think they hit the lottery on every car, or misdiagnose, and in some cases shops call us for technical support. I deal with most of the more involved clients, and specialized services, like tech/warranty assistance for Jasper engines, repair consulting for a ton of clients like Comcast, Sanofi-aventis, Austin Powder, and Shell oil company.

In a day, I might have to find someone to fix a bucket lift on a comcast van, then go over the repairs and help out a shop getting their ass handed to them by a difficult driveability problem, beat up on a shop that f-ed up a car due to stupidity, and talk a driver through an oil life monitor reset.

My cousin lives in PA and asked me if I knew of any jobs. He's in his early 40's speaks with a thick accent (english) but he's bilingual and from Puerto Rico so he can speak the puertorican spanish.

Can I send him the info about these positions? I dont think he's got any issues moving down herel.

It is nice to see this kind of help being offered here.

 good desk jobs for people in the auto/truck and equipment fields, telecommuting opportunities, and a solid company that has treated me right for a long time. We have offices in Sparks, MD, Houston TX, Eden Prairie, MN and Ft Lauderdale, FL, if you telecommute, you can live most anywhere. And of course getting enough people so they don't have to keep calling me in for OT would be nice too;)

Is this the same type of position that would be at ARI or Donlen? Basically a go-between from the fleet operator to the outside repair facilities?

Yes, although it's a big company, and there are a lot of openings throughout it, the job descriptions and list of open positions are posted above. Just PM me if you apply, so I can give you a reffereal, and tell the Department head to look for your resume.
