Getting my reloading equilment setup, "deGlocked" a bunch of .45acp, deprimed, and tumbled. Been reading about rice for media,,, and,,, hell yeah. This is a total of 3 hrs in a Frankford vibratory.

The pic of the 4 cases are 90mins, before and after.

    I'm sold!

    Where they send me.
Looks good and I'm always looking for a better tumbling option.

Did you treat the rice with anything prior?
Does it look like it broke down much? Curious as to how it last vs something like walnut.

I did cut up a drier sheet, I used the tiny oriental rice, NO DUST at all, ran 500 pieces, ( 2 batches) rice is grey,, but I will run more through it. The overall condition is even better than the 90min pieces. They are not polished,, but are CLEAN. I may run through corn cob to polish just for the hell of it.

Reviews warn of flash hole possibly having a grain in it, quick looking,, haven't noticed any yet.

Sounds good, please keep us posted.

I have been running "Lizard Litter" (walnut shells) from Pets Mart for years and been happy with it but there is often a better option.

I guess my biggest concern (with most supplies) is cost vs performance. A quick glance on Amazon shows 25lb of rice going for $50+, while a 25lb of walnut costs me $25. I see the insides and primer pockets appear much cleaner than my walnut tumbled brass usually shows, but I don't need most of my brass cleaned that much anyway. (I have a wet SS system for that if needed). I think I'll stick with bulk walnut shells for now..

At COSTCO the fancy rice is 17.99 for 25#, the regular rice is 10.99 for 25#. I find HMart is often cheaper. Ground walnut at Petsmart is 15.99 for 10#. I have been reloading for over 30 years; I don't obsess over shiny.
