Back in the 70s my father in law gifted me his old model 94 30-30 Winchester. He told he bought it from a friend in the 30s for 25 bucks. He said his friend needed money due to the depression and had never shot it. My father in law also only used it a couple of times as he was a shot gun man.

Several years back I wrote Winchester and provided the serial number. They replied and said it was manufactured in the spring of 1920. It has been a great deer gun and I last shot a deer 3 years ago with it.

Out of a 1-10 rating it is an 8 still has bluing and the stock has only one blemish. Now retiring it as it has served me well. Bought a Henry 30-30 a few years ago as a replacement and a Henry 45-70 last year love them both.

I inherited my Fathers M94, 32 winchester special, it's about 64 years old. My Mother bought it for my Father when they were first married. I'll probably never see it turn 100 but maybe my son will.

All OP needs now is a phone with a camera!

Yes I am an OP with a Samsung S20 more fun to keep-em guessing. This is the only social medial I do. Do not like FU Book, twitter (Shitter), Sintrest, ZOOM cause it is run by the REDS, or any other SM. It is all crap, keyboard warriors will dress you down but would never say it to your face. Our society has gonr to crap due to social media.

I still shoot my 1970's era Win 94 although I don't hunt with it anymore. I can barely see the front sight even with a fiber optic I put on it. Using the tang sight is only slightly better. :sad20:

Some years ago I artificially aged it and it came out well. Sometimes people on the line see it and comment that it must have been around in the cowboy days.

Had one that was made in 1896, first year of production for the .30-30. It had special order express sights and a 26" 0ctagonal barrel. Regret selling that one. The old guns are much better than the hew stuff IMHO.

I buy Henry Rifles now they are in my opinion the best built rifles and guaranteed for life. I have a 45-70, a 30-30 and a Military Badged Big Boy 22. All have heavy octagon barrels with brass receivers. I have shot the 45-70 using max loads with 500 grain shells at 600 yards. Took down a Black bear and it dropped immediately. The 45-70 kicked like a mule so now I use a custom recoil pad much better. Henry's now have a side gate loading option combined with a tube fed option. Now in SOMD we can use rifles with straight pistol cartridge's for deer hunting. I just ordered a 40 caliber Henry it will be fun. So based on the new hunting rules I can also use my 50 Caliber S&W BFR revolver. I think I will carry both.

That is a beauty, love the early rifle length 94's.

Yes, it is as long as my Mossberg 12 GA silver addition and it weighs almost 9 lbs. has a pretty hefty barrel pretty close to what we would call a bull barrel. I don't us a recoil pad as there is very little kick. They must of has small shoulders back then as the but plate is almost child size.
