Would love to send these down range with an SVT-40 but those seem to be quite rare….

Are your bullets .310-.311 diameter? The reason I asked is that the Finn 28-30 has a .308 bore. However, most 91-30'a have a .310 to .312 bore. While .308 diameter bullets can be shot in them, they don't give the accuracy that the rifle is capable of.

They’re 308, I’m using the ones called out in Hornadys reloading manual. I can’t remember the product number off the top of my head.

I'm not sure 42gr would be enough to cycle the action. I'd say it's on the edge, which is why I asked what you were planning to shoot them with. I'd be curious to see if my PSL would cycle with 42gr.

Well the SVTs do have an adjustable gas block so I’m sure you could play with that as well. Idk about a PSL though.

My PSL doesn't have one, but I hear you can get one for it.

Mark novak has a really good video on the SVT explaining how the gas block worked as well, IIRC it was one of the first adjustable gas blocks on a shoulder fired weapon.

Some No.9 powder delivered yesterday. I have not used in my .500 S&W mag so I loaded up 10 test rounds at 38.3 grains with 350 grain Boolits. Heading to a Buds place in ST. Mary's for testing. He wants to shoot it too so will bring some extra rounds. Received an email from Accurate Molds can expect my 350 grain cast molds for the 45/70 and .500 in a few weeks.

My last attempt at a post got eaten in a browser crash. Suffice it to say, my attempt at 7.62x39 fire-forming load using a 150gr coated bullet with 11gr CFE BLK did not work out. Very dirty, didn't stabilize and didn't really seal up the brass well enough. Got the gun so dirty nothing would chamber, really quick, too. Was stupid quiet. Will try 16gr CFE BLK next time, which is still somewhat below the starting load. Didn't want to load too hot due to the shoulders on the brass being marginal, but I was apparently far too conservative. Plus side, the brass DID fire correctly, so apparently the headspace was "good enough", and no obvious issues with the brass that I did shoot out the rifle. We'll see how they fare when I do a full-length resize.

My 5.56-pressure loads with 27gr TAC and a 55gr bullet worked out awesome, though. I need to shoot a lot more before I'm comfortable with the Mark7 Evo's output for 3gun matches and such, but the early return is looking quite good. Need to chrono it and see exactly what velocities I'm getting.

Helped my youngest son load some .308 Win. for when he goes 'out west' in late August.
