    Required 3% of what?

Your 3%. Once you get it, you'll always have a 3% ratio no matter how nuch you add later.

You did you read your MDS' "Welcome to Water Cooler" packet? It's all right there.

You start looking for an AS-007 yet,?

I would think any rifle chambered for .460 Weatherby Magnum would be a solid choice as well.

The thing about the Circuit Judge is to be Maryland Legal , it must be rifled . Buckshot thru a rifled bbl gives Anti - patterns .

Smoothbore versions available in Free America ( or Brazil ) could be worthwhile . In PRM , might as well have either an actual .45 Colt Rifle ( not a bad idea) , or an actual .410 Shotgun ( not a terrible idea) .

Have you seen any data or experimented at "House Distances"? I am now curious as to what the actual spread would be. I know the T/C Contender pistol barrel for the .45 Colt/.410 Shotgun comes with a screw in choke that is supposed to stop the spin.

Not Judge/ Governor specifically , but other flavors of shot through rifled bbls gives effective ranges in single digit FEET .

Since it is rifled, it's no issue, the patterns aren't as bad as you would think, especially at the distances we are talking.

Quick follow up to the past weekends Shooting session:

They all chose the Stoeger Coach SxS in 20 gauge, neither wanted to go the HQL route.

Thanks for everyone’s insight and recommendations.

I use a Hi Point carbine to teach kids to shoot. Low recoil and reliable. 9mm ammo is relatively easy to get and, again relatively, cheap. Overall, reasonably priced and kept fed.

    Just a thought.

I agree --cheap- reliable-they always go bang-they just work

Have them shoot a variety of weapons starting with .22lr. Whatever they like - go in that direction. Go over some how to shoot fundamentals first so they have some technique. They should shoot/own what they like to shoot, so they actually practice and enjoy it.

"Revolver easy to load, easy to operate."

Understand easy to load and operate but I would worry about limited capacity, especially if aim is off. 6 rounds can go by quick.

    What weapons to recommend

There are a lot of factors to consider.
Will they be carrying when they leave home? Are they living in a populated area or out in the sticks? After taking those things into consideration you might want to take them to a range to try out different options and better yet have them enroll in a NRA course to learn what they need to know.
