I'm having some pretty severe medical issues and I'm going to sell a few handguns (mostly CZs) I doubt I'll ever use. I'll put them up for sale here at the classifieds as soon as I can take some pics and establish fair values.

I would probably use Tylers to make the transfer. The reason I would do it this way is to make things easy for myself and to give the buyer a certain comfort level regarding who holds the handgun during the transfer delay period.

I helped my mom sell one a few years ago and we met the buyer at Tylers, he paid her and filled out the paperwork, Tylers held the pistol for him until his paperwork came back. I thought it worked well because a third party held the gun and the buyer felt secure, mom got her money immediately and I didn't have to drag her back out to complete the sale.

    Is this a reasonable approach?

Thank you for any suggestions and advice!

Hope you get better. I’ve had many people do it that way because of scheduling. Easy for all involved.

You’d want full payment for it to leave your hands. After it goes to the FFL, it’s no longer your problem. If the buyer is denied, it would may incur some cost for you to get it back from the FFL, and good luck getting that money of a denied buyer

Also, not taking full payment up front just creates more work for the FFL to schedule with two people to ensure payment is made at a later date prior to transfer.

Using Tyler's as you outlined here is exactly what I came to suggest. Their transfer rates for FTF sales are also very reasonable for the buyer.

That sounds like a great approach to me. I hope your health issues resolve soon.

Yes , that is reasonable . Buyer & seller need only meet once instead of twice . If buyer has issues with 77R , it's no issue for seller , it is between the Buyer and the FFL .

Just be upfront about who pays the transfer fee . ( Seller could include in price , buyer could pay , or could split . Whatever two willing people agree upon .)

I’ve usually done it at MSP barracks and have always gotten paid when the paperwork was started.
I think you’re approach is a little easier because the FFL has it and you don’t need to meet again.

You've had more than your fair share(of medical issues). I pray this one is surmountable. Best of luck.

Prayers up . Tyler’s is def best for both parties. I’ll be keeping an eye out. for what your selling I could use a P07, P09 or P10 if you’re selling any of those.

THANK YOU all for your "get well" wishes & prayers, I very much appreciate that and I appreciate the advice!!

I thinks that's the plan then:

Transfer at Tylers, fees to the buyer.
Take payment in full prior to dropping off the handgun, deal is done on my end.
The buyer asserts he will pass the background checks and if not, he has created his own problem and can work something out with Tyler's.

I just did a quick once over on the handguns I can live without and while I still need to find the values and take pics, this is the list for those who are curious:

    1) Colt Frontier Scout .22 LR 4-1/2", blue
    2) Ruger 22/45 Target .22 LR 4" heavy barrel, blue, 2-10 round mags
    3) T/C Contender handgun frame GenIII (I think) has Cougar on sides, blue, wood grip

    4) CZ 75 Kadet KIT .22 LR, blue, lightly fitted on one of my CZs, can't remember which, but it worked fine on several of my frames. 8-10 round mags

    5) CZ 75B Compact, 9mm, Satin Nickel 1-10 round mag*
    6) CZ 75 P-01, 9mm, Black Poly, 1-10 round mag*
    7) CZ 75 P-01, 9mm. O.D. (original/1st run) 1-10 round mag*
    8) CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical, 9mm, Black Poly, NO mags**
    9) CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical, 40 S&W, Black Poly, NO mags**

    10) Colt 1911A1, .45 ACP, Series 70 Polished Chrome (from my pimp days), several mags

    * I definitely have at least 1 each 10 round mag that can go with the compacts. I think I have enough around to provide 2 10 rounders with each compact, but still need to do some digging.
** I don't think I have any MD legal mags for the full size guns, possibly the .40, but I think those are 12s - still digging.

Ed, sorry to hear about your problems.

Chuck has a very easy process and will give you a discount for in store transfers.

I hope things work out for the best.

Are the P-01 compacts "de-cocker" or Safety models?
