The Firearms Act of 2013 states a “Regulated firearm” includes the "AK–47 in all forms".
Now somehow we can get AK-based pistols, but how can we get the Polish Tantal, Romanian AIMS, or Arsenal SLR106-21?
I see that they refer to the muzzle device on these rifles as a "muzzle brake" not a flash suppressor. And they are not manufactured by Kalashnikov (which avoids the OFAC importation ban) but is this as simple as the AK-74 (5.45x39) is not considered that same as the AK47 (7.62x39) based solely on caliber chambered, and therefore the non-Kalashnikov/Izhmash AK74 is legal in MD?
MSP agrees with the caliber-based definition of the "AK47 in all forms"?
This would mean the entire Arsenal SLR-104 and 106 lines, heck any AK-based rifle that is not in 7.62x39 and lacks the "evil components" detailed in the FA2013 would technically be legal in MD?
Sorry if this is a well-established & socialized fact. I have not bought any AK-type rifles in MD for a few years.
