The real issue with losing the NRA is its training program is so well established. No other organization even comes close. It would leave a massive void. Other than that I think they are swirling the bowl and picking up speed.

The NRA should stick to training and lobbying. Their museum and range is worthwhile.

They need to get rid of WLP; he's the primary reason people have stopped sending them money. I'm personally done with them until they get their house in order. That would probably include trimming the Board of Directors from its current level of 78(!), which exists only as a barrier to retain WLP and his cronies in their cushy, well-paid offices.

I fail to understand all the giveaways they flood the membership with; I don't need pocketknives or yet another NRA backpack, nor am I interested in big-game hunting on their dime. Re-focus on the primary missions.

Their former legislative person, Sharon Alford(?) was quite helpful behind the scenes in Annapolis. She left her position because of threats to herself and her family from the mostly peaceful Left. I'm not familiar with the current operative, having given up on the MD GA personally.

I'm personally an NRA Life Endowment level member. There are many like me who have stopped supporting the Save The WLP campaign. Once they start channeling funds back to their primary areas of concern, I'd be more than happy to resume sending them money.

You are entirely correct. No financial support until they clean house. From a Life Member

NRA claims partial victory over NY AG's lawsuit.

The National Rifle Association of America (NRA) scored a major legal victory today, as a New York court struck down attempts by the New York Attorney General to dissolve the 150-year-old organization. Following a two-hour hearing on December 10, 2021, the Hon. Joel M. Cohen of the New York State Supreme Court issued an opinion today that vindicates the NRA’s position: the NYAG’s effort to shut down the Association ran afoul of common sense, New York law, and the First Amendment.

In an opinion, dated March 2, 2022, Justice Cohen writes, “The Attorney General’s claims to dissolve the NRA are dismissed.” It adds, “The Complaint does not allege that any financial misconduct benefited the NRA, or that the NRA exists primarily to carry out such activity, or that the NRA is incapable of continuing its legitimate activities on behalf of its millions of members.”

I worry with the price of oil going so high, if the NRA gets rid of Wayne, how will he be able to fill up his private jet and yacht? Try to think about others before being selfish guys.

I'm gonna step in here and completely disagree, know how much time and effort the previous NRA-ILA rep put, in her home state, for five years straight.

But then again, you probably have never stepped foot in Annapolis to see her testify for good bills, and against the bad bills.

She was part of the group of 2A groups that got two pro-2A bills passed in the last 10 years (Removal of the shell casing requirement and removal of the need for fingerprints to renew a carry permit).

And please enlighten us as to how much time and effort GOA has spent in Annapolis working on legislation? I'll give you a hint, it's less than one hour.

Only if their ILA Legislative representative are as Competent as Shannon was.

I will continue to renew my membership, but no more than that, and yes, WLP has got to go as well as cutting the BoD down to a manageable size (lss than 20?).

I fail to understand all the giveaways they flood the membership with; I don't need pocketknives or yet another NRA backpack, nor am I interested in big-game hunting on their dime. Re-focus on the primary missions.

Or the amount of trash mail I get from from them, save some money by cutting back on items printed and postage to send them out.

Their former legislative person, Sharon Alford(?) was quite helpful behind the scenes in Annapolis. She left her position because of threats to herself and her family from the mostly peaceful Left. I'm not familiar with the current operative, having given up on the MD GA personally.

Shannon (close enough), and since she moved on there hav been three people, I have not met any of them as of yet, so I can't speak to how they stack up to Shannon. I won't speak to why she left, but the threats weren't the main reason. While you may give up on the MDGA, keep stying in contact with them on the bills that matter.

Once they get their house in order, I may consider becoming a life member.

Once upon a time they had a life membership promo that had it down to something close to $300, and I bit. Even if I'd renewed only once every three years since, I'd still be ahead of the game.

But more importantly: you really want to cut down on the NRA junk mail? Lifers only see a fraction of it, since there's no renewal to nag you about. I have donated to the ILA and the PAC, so they definitely light me up on that front regularly. But the normal membership noise has all but vanished. Now if WLP would ride off into the sunset, I think we'd be getting somewhere.

I got the same deal. Between that and opting out of mailers I get zero from them

I got a life membership from them back in '85 so I really only get the monthly magazine. Frankly, I cull my mail during the 100 foot walk from the mailbox to front door, next to which my garbage barrel stands. Very little mail makes it in the house.

I wholeheartedly agree. Shannon did a damn good job for us when she was the NRA rep for MD. I have been there when she came and gave great testimony to the GA.
