This morning I decided to go Fox hunting. Plus I wanted to try out my FoxPro Hammerjack that I bought back in the fall and haven't tried it. Got out to the stand at 630 and and had everything set up by 645. I put the Foxpro caller with decoy 20 yards from my blind. I started trying a series of calls and at 655 a fox ran out of the woods and tackled my caller. He pulled the decoy off my Hammerjack. I am sad to report the Fox did not make it. He dropped right in his tracks.

My son got his first last nite! Proud daddy moment! 126yards and put it right behind her ear. I dropped him off at home and then went out for a little smackdown myself.

Holly smoke. That is the most elaborate hunting station I have seen. It sure beats my two sticks and a rubber band.

Glad your boy is a happy hunter.

    Those look like 'yotes.

Had foxes making a ruckus in my front yard again last night. I guess they're getting freaky out there. We have a ton of them this year.

Thanks everyone. I waited 47 years for that one! Proud daddy moment for sure. He turned 13 on 12/30. It wasnt until about 2 months ago that I was finally able to get him behind the gun. He picked it up fast. Especially for a thermal being the first thing he looked thru. I never pushed it even though it was eating me up inside that he had no interest. After a month or so of shooting, he decided to hunt with me one night. He missed a red around 100 yards and it was eating him up. He hunted several nights with me but we just couldn't make it happen or I would drop him off at home and then find a few later. I think that just fueled the fire. We finally found a participant and he put it all together. Pretty sure I was happier than he was!

Mine turns 13 in a few weeks. I just had him out at the range. He is just very lukewarm towards hunting. He has nothing against it, just not interested. He typically grabs a flashlight and his boots the moment I come in and announce "I am pretty sure one is down in the woods" when I deer hunt. He LOVES to help me find them and often sticks around and keeps me company while I field dress them. Every time I ask if he wants to hunt, I just get a "nah". He does love to fish. I've been getting him out shooting about twice a year since he was 8, mostly 22s. He enjoyed shooting my 10/22 a lot a couple of days ago, but he wasn't that interested in anything else. He shot my M1 carbine some, but didn't like it from a bench and wasn't willing to shoot my Howa in .223. I didn't push him. My almost 15 year old is much more into guns. He was shooting the Howa in .223 and 6.5 grendel a few days ago. Shot my 16" AR for the first time too. He is getting pretty good. A few months ago when I took him, he shot my Garand for the first time. That was a handful for him. He is big for his age, but not super strong, just tall. Though his almost 13yr old brother is a dang weed. He is like 5'4" and maybe 100lbs. My almost 15yr old is just about 5'11', but he is around 150lbs (all three of my kids have birthdays in like 2 months. What can I say, my wife and I really like May and June if you know what I mean). The older one is expressing an interest in hunting. He wants to start with squirrels. Which I think is a good place for him. He has a lot less interest in deer hunting. I think he'd have a hard time sitting around quite for hours on end. Walking in the woods quietly, he could do.

    Congrats to your son!
