Decided to try a barrel shorten and fab a new bead sight. Bead sight is titanium, barrel is 18.5” from receiver face.

Thanks everyone I actually only use the lathe to mark it. I cut it with an angle grinder and then hand ground it back to the very accurate mark the lathe made. I was very surprised to see how thick the barrel was

I need to do this to a barrel. But I don't have the skills or tools you do!
I'll be using a cheap angle grinder and luck! Haha

I made hundreds of cowboy 18 inch doubles from IGA 26 inch hammer guns in the nineties. Guess what, I used a hack saw and a file, some steel wool and 60% tin solder.

You don't need fancy tools to work on guns if you take your time. Cutting a barrel on a shotgun is no big deal unless you plan to add threads for chokes, then you need the special tools. :D

If you are half way handy, you can cut the barrel (even a ribbed barrel) using a 32 tooth hacksaw blade and a mitre box. You can dress the edges with a fine tooth file and some 600 grit cloth backed by a file. A little cold blue and you are done. If you cut the rib and don't feel you can solder it, just mix some carbon powder into JB weld epoxy and put in on the web and barrel. I've used it for sights and ribs and, done right, it doesn't come off.

PSA: That H&R 10ga Turkey Gun has a 3.5 inch chamber. It is very muzzle heavy and womps you bad from a bench rest. You have been warned.

Lol I marked this in the lathe but other than that it was a cheap angle grinder and a cheap belt sander. Just do it! Better tools only makes it easier, but only if you know how to use them. If you can’t use a cheap grinder or even a file Put the tools down turn around and take up stamps
