I've been in Southern York County for almost 3 years now and have never seen anyone OC. And I've been looking.

May be different in other nearby areas, I just haven't seen it.

:sad20: +1. We're a very small segment of a not much larger portion of the population. For a nation of 300 million guns we sure keep them hidden away real well, don't we? Although I'm sure a considerable number are long guns, rather poorly suited for every day carry.

I've been OC'ing in and around York and East York since the end of 2008. Although I will say I have seen the odd occasional unexpected OCer, it is damned rare. Maybe a dozen sightings, maybe less.

I really wish there were just a few more. I get approached (in a friendly and approving way) from MANY CC'ers who just seem to want to make contact, let me know I'm not alone in the area.

My personal thoughts are that some mix of OC and CC would be ideal - keep 'em guessing I suppose. York County has one of the highest percentages of PA LTCFs among the population in the surrounding counties, and you'd never know it unless you looked it up. I did a couple years back. Lancaster, Adams, Daulphin, they all trail by quite a margin.

Also to be considered, and you'll find this out as you chat with folks, there are a great many who possess and carry their LTCF, but do NOT carry any kind of firearm. They've been led to believe they need to to go to the range, etc., and never considered carrying outside the home. I have no idea what those actual numbers are, but the number I run into who believe this are very discouraging.

As one person, I can only go so many places, only speak with so many people, and only enlighten so many minds. I OC EVERYWHERE. If there is someplace I can't open carry - I don't go.

So far I have not been inconvenienced in the slightest. Not once.

*didn't intend on writing a tome when I started!

EDIT: Read my sig line - might be seen as appropriate here! (former Marylander has spoken and yields the floor!)

Does anyone know if it's even possible for a Texas recognized instructor to give the classes outside of Texas? Or must the classes be taken in Texas?

If a Texas instructor could come to Maryland, it might be worth his/her while if enough people took the class to get a Texas non-resident permit and thus be able to get a PA non-resident permit.

    I can dream anyway.

I do recall the application asking the location of the range where the training took place, If they didn't require it, it might not have been asked.

Those who have done the Texas Permit... Do you have a recommendation on a trainer/group in Texas? Location for Fingerprints?

Go to the Texas DPS web site it has all the info you need. Texas recip carry was done by statute with PA so the AG can't cancel it.

I am in OKC heading to TX to finish my training tomorrow. I will report when I get back.

Dam, I wish I knew about this a few weeks ago. I was in San Antonio for a few days.
    How long is the class?

4 hour class not including range time.

Range live fire consists of 50 rounds. TX uses only one finger print vendor for prints.

    course of fire:

    PA honors NH
