Need to hire a welder for my fabrication shop in West Baltimore.

Needs experience with MIG and stick welding on mild steel (A36 primarily) and cast materials.

Hours would be 6 - 230 with the possibility of 5 - 130 if desired.

We are a fabricator of large marine mining equipment with a bunch of older experienced welders who are about to retire.

    PM me.

Good Luck. I have been trying to get people in the Sheet Metal/Fabrication field for the past 10 weeks. All I have picked up (after getting rid of a few bad apples) is several kids who have a good attitude and are interested in putting in the work to learn. That is certainly better than nothing, but does not really help me out right now...

My buddy’s son is a senior in HS here and wants to go into welding.

    Any suggestions?

Last I heard he’s looking into just going thru one of the unions

Our corporate weld engineer went to some schooling for it but cut his teeth working in the trade. Hes an amazingly talented guy.

Alternatively look for a company like mine with an apprenticeship program. Its guaranteed pay with increases and employment provided the apprentice continues to take and pass certain college classes. We're officially sanctioned by the state.

That does seem like a very good option for someone out of high school.
