I bought my furbearer permit and it looks like the only limits on bullet types are FMJ, incendiary, and tracers. For most of my rifles I have ammo or at least bullets on hand that will work, for my 357 I do have some Fiocchi 158gr hollow point ammo, but nothing for reloading. I bought a die set last night because it was actually in stock and a couple hundred LSWC bullets.

Will LSWC do a good enough job on coyote? From searching it sounds like they’re most likely to punch right through. I’d rather keep the hollow points for my revolver and 2-legged threats. The 357 probably won’t be my go to rifle, but having something in every caliber is my goal since ammo is scarce and/or more expensive now and likely not changing soon.

    Where they send me.
Depending on hardness I wouldn't expect it to flatten much. Front shoulder hit should put it down mechanically, may need a follow up shot to put it down entirely.

I would be fine using LSWC's for them at short range.

At rifle velocities I would imagine some expansion. Big diffrence in 357 between a 4" revolver and a 16" rifle.

I was thinking there would be some expansion, but not much. I’ve never shot a SWC out of either so it will be interesting to see if I can find a bullet from each after trying them to see what they look like.

That’s good to know. They are BHN 16 according to the manufacturer. I plan to only use it at short ranges, most likely if I’m walking the dog and one pops out or if I get a chicken coop and one gets too interested. The ARs and bolt action are available for long range hunting.
