If you can get on this website, you can get on compass and get your hunting license. Why create a hassle for yourself?

This. I get being on a tight budget (right there with you), but the $25-$100 you'd spend (depending on stamp add ons) is a lot cheaper then defending yourself against dnr tickets.

It's really not about the money. It's the principle. The Governor put out an executive order that includes all licenses. I pay Maryland a retarded amount in taxes already by living in PG County. Why would I want to give them more money if I don't have to?

Maybe you should look at the fee schedule and do a risk/ reward cost analysis.

    Failure to get a license $500 2nd $4k
    Missing stamps $250 ea. probably
    Missing permission slip $500

I'm a rebel Libertarian, but I'll buy my license. I get a bow stamp, muzy stamp and waterfowl stamps. They could bury me quick in fines

    This 100%
If his executive order can limit the amount of people who can enter a business until the business can no longer pay its bills.
If his executive order makes us wear a mask
    Then ..
I'm going to partake in one of the very few parts that benefits me.

    For me it's principal.

I am an avid outdoorsman. Have been all my life. And I do everything I can to play by the rules.

But your post is a real eye opener. 252 PAGES of violations? Who in the f"#k can know and follow all of these regulations?

Jesus the Christ Himself couldn't do this. Disturbing a cave wall? Really???

    Beyond ridiculous.

I never noticed that fee schedule before. I agree, it is ridiculous. I do buy my licenses all the time whether or not I hunt or fish that year. However, I have no problem with folks availing themselves of a change in the law which will save them some money. It's not often that the government cuts your costs.

Right there with you. I renewed my hunting and tidal/nontidal fishing licenses just last week. But as they were renewals, and not having heard otherwise from where licensing was addressed as being valid until 30 days after the state of emergency ends, I am thinking I technically didn't need to.

This is right on the DNR website.
    https://news.maryland.gov/dnr/2020/03/13/dnr-activities-during-state-of-emergency/

“Governor Hogan has issued an executive order related to licenses, permits, registrations, and other authorizations that may be expiring or up for renewal during the state of emergency. The executive order immediately grants a grace period of 30 days after the date of termination of the state of emergency. This includes items processed at our Maryland Department of Natural Resources Licensing Service Centers.”

I know. I posted the exact same link in the original post. I was just wondering if anyone else was going to follow the executive order.

I know. I just see it being debated, when DNR even posted it.

I tried calling several of the DNR numbers today, but all went to VM. I lost my job, and was considering not paying the $200+ for my out of state tags this year in MD. So if I can hunt on last years tags, I will. Not sorry either, as I’ve paid a few decades, and passed many a deer early, and then not harvested anything. I have a cabin, so I’m there often and spend lots of money in MD. It’s nice to just be outside, especially in the early season.
I will contact the local rangers to see how this is being enforced, since they are the ones I will see out in the field. I already renewed my fishing license, could have saved some there too.
I saved the EO and the DNR website info on my phone. Along with all my license info. I’ll take advantage of this shit show when givin the opportunity.

I have been fortunate during these tough times. I never lost my employment at all. That being the case it doesn’t hurt my feeling if others want to follow the executive order or not. To each his own.

I think the DNR site says it is ok to not get it renewed at their locations. But it does t mention the website and I think Maryland’s omission allows for waiting for up to 30days after the order is rescinded.

Enjoy the day and hunt and fish on folks.

There are many websites listing Emergency order rescinded on them if you look. This one list how they are amended and rescinded. Maryland is pretty much allowing most things own but mask use required. Non-essential business order was lifted back on 6/12 so which order allows you to still not buy one?

You can buy your license at walmart, Compass online and I am sure a lot of other stores like small hunting shops. All you guys that wan to get out of buying a license even bother to call Owings Mills, Flintstone or southern Maryland DNR regional officers and ask them directly if you have to or can get by without one? Because those are the guys that will land you in court if you really need it.

IMO, it is vague enough for you to get fined, even if your in the grace period still. BUt give it a try and I'm sitting here with the popcorn. :D Post pics if you get paying paper, please!! ;)

Is DNR processing snail mail transactions? About three weeks ago I mailed in a request for a duplicate title for a boat I sold. There was no option to do this on-line. So far the check hasn’t cleared.
