Thanks to you, and all of the others, who were able to attend and provide testimony against HB4, and the other bills.

I was quite disappointed that the feed was closed just as that dapper gentleman behind you began to speak. (I'm choosing to believe that occurred because his testimony was so powerful that it broke the MGA Internet. :))

It's both troubling, and telling, that Del Atterbeary refused to allow Mr. Pennak to speak, on multiple occasions. She's clearly not prepared to spar with him, and it's quite evident that she's not willing to let logic and reason get in the way of her pet bill.

If you're going to try and slip something past your constituents, at least have the decency to stand there and take your whuppin'. If your bill is solid, your argument should be able to withstand the argument of the other side. That she's clearly unwilling to do so, and also that she appeared to be visibly contemptuous in her regard for our side, speaks volumes.

The move of a weak-minded wannabe tyrant.

Missed most of the first panel.Overflow room wasn't opened until after 2pm. A party apparently took precedence over legislation.
I did catch a proponent speaking to suicide that the majority of firearms suicides in rural Maryland were committed with long guns. I didn't see or hear a good link toward HB4 impacting that. As if a background check would have prevented a suicide somehow. When asked to speak to the homicide rate post FSA 13, in reference to the efficacy of firearm restrictions, he said he hadn't seen the data. Must keep his head in the sand. The record rate of Baltimore homicides has been top news.
Sitting here listening to the moms. Most testimony just "I strongly support this bill". Big surprise.
A number added that they were survivors of gun violence. One was actually shot herself, tragically it seemed she was shot in front of her children. No other details, but no correlationtothe bill under testimony. One poor lady whose nephew committed suicide was honest enough to admit that this bill would not have saved her nephew. One mom whose son was murdered in Anne Arundel County was honest enough to say that "our" goal is to remove all guns from society (paraphrased). I can respect that. Not agree with it, but understandible in her grief.
Several opposition witnesses pointed out that less than 3% of firearm violence is related to long guns. No proponents gave any statistics or numbers how many of this 3% were loaned or transfered guns whose loan or transfer would have been prevented by HB4.
Not a single proponent witness testified how HB 4 would reduce gun violence.
Not a single proponent witness explained how, or asserted that, HB4 would have saved them or their loved ones from tragedy.

As you will notice (if you could not make it to the HB4 testimony), the Maryland Speaker of the House, Del. Adrienne Jones, was in attendance for the Sponsor and Opposition panels. Sponsor, Del. Atterbeary, was active during the testimony in the questioning activities. She would not allow several people to even speak (even Mark Pennak), and cut short responses from several others. She was interrupted by Chair Del. Clippinger at one point.

This! How does someone elected by Marylanders have the ability to tell anyone to sit down and be quiet. I think I'd have been escorted out while protesting loudly. WTF

The self proclaimed queen of the moms has spoken. Ye mere peasants shall bow before her greatness. What a joke! She couldn’t hold Mr Pennak’s jockstrap if it was laundry day.

Wasn't it her arrogance that killed the bill last year?

Maybe I should put a sign in my front yard for her to see... probably get red flagged....
