If you're running conversion cylinders I'd stick to cowboy loads. I run the 200gr RNFP over 6.0 Trail Boss for light loads or 7.0gr of Tite Group for more velocity.

I stopped all cast bullet sizing in the late '70s. Did a lot of testing and sizing never improved accuracy.
There is not, in general, a single correct size for bullets, other than what your gun likes.
For lead bullets, the bullets must be the same or larger than the throats of your cylinder and 0.001" larger than the barrel's groove diameter.
Per SAAMI spec for the industry only, bullets should be 0.4500-0.4560", Groove diameter can range from .450-0.454" and throats can be 0.4555-0.4595", but if the gun is a few years old, dimensions can vary. So, if there is a universal bullet diameter, it would be 0.456", but check YOUR gun first.

To the best of my knowledge, all barrels intended for .45 Colt are .452. For cap and ball guns, their barrels run around .446-.450. The best thing you can do if shooting .45 Colt in a conversion kit is to cut the barrel lead with a 11 degree reamer. This does two things, 1, it stops lead spattering at the cylinder/barrel gap and 2, it makes for a more accurate gun. Most cap and ball guns I have owned or worked on had very little throat in the barrel. I have not noticed any negative change in shooting round balls after cutting the barrel lead.

Shot a few of my powder coated, cast reloads in 45 colt, in my conversion cylinder 58 Remington yesterday.
I only shoot list caliber a few hundred times a year, just like you plan too.
I already had everything, so adding a bullet mold and a set of reloading dies, was easy for me. If you’re not interested in reloading other cartridges, just buy factory ammo.

Is that the 200 or 250 gn Lee bullet?

I use the 200 gn in my cap and ball conversions as the slow twist doesn't stabilize the 255's as well, mine have 1 in 30 twist. I believe Uberti may have switched to 1 in 20 for newer guns.

I use 6 grains of Bullesye, 6.3 of Red Dot or 7 grains of WST all of which will make one ragged hole at 20 yards from the bench out of a Remington Beals with conversion cylinder. Since they are going so slow, I only use one coat of Xlox and don't bother powder coating them.

If you already have 100rd of once fired brass , you're ready to roll for less than cost of 200rd of .45 Colt ammo .

Depending on the bullet weight and the specific powder a pound of powder should reload approximately 1,000 .45 Colt Cartridges.
