Uruguayan Mausers are some of the rarest Mausers; especially here in the States. I've been lucky enough to obtain 3 so far and I expect to have 2 more shortly. They are my favorite Mauser now.

1908 Uruguayan Long Rifle dated 1910. Matching except stock but it is a Uruguayan Stock marked with U underneath. We believe this was used for embassy duty. It is super clean. Most 1908 Long Rifles seem to be in good condition. They were dated 1908, 1909, and 1910.

Next is a 1908 Uruguayan Short. Only the second example I have seen. The other was mismatched and deactivated. All matching including the stock though it is faded. Only 2,500 were made. These were used hard like most South American Carbines.

Finally a Czech Made vz37 also known as 937 short rifle. All matching and in great condition. Love the crest on it. These seem to be found in better condition, when they can be found.

Definitely nice and rare. I myself have a Brazilian 1908 Short (relatively rare as well) and it was beat to crap! They are definitely hard-used rifles but even nowadays can still shoot well on target.

The 1908 Long Rifle looks like it had the Gucci treatment and would fit right into the collection of any drug lord. Too shiny.:D
Were these made in Germany or in Uruguay? I know several other countries made Mausers under license.

I have a 1908 Short as well. Stock is heavily sanded to the point I can't see serial but the rest matches.

For others to tell if 1908 Brazilian is a short, and not a Cutdown look at rear sight and serial block.

It's just the trigger guard and floorplate that are polished with a shine. The receiver is in the white, just very clean. Stock has no sheen. Based on information from Germany they were used by "Palace Guards", since there was no monarchy I assume that means embassy or presidential guards.

The 1908 were made in Germany and the vz37 Made in Czech Republic.

Wow- the first rifle posted above is minty! Your recent posts (and the firearms) are awesome. Seems like half the fun might be finding these gems and the other half is the payoff of getting them here. Hopefully, the B-H administration will let you continue. Rifles are cool, but those Lahtis were top notch!

This is why I turned towards the Enfield fork in the road when I got to Mauser collecting, variant overload! So much to consider, even if sticking to SA Mausers. Good job hunting down these unicorns!

Outstanding! The blueing on that first Mauser is Pimptastic! I’ve never seen old school Colt style blueing on a stock Mauser.

Thank you and to everyone else for the kind words. Even though I mostly collect contract Mausers and 1911s lately, Finns will always have a place in my collection. I just made a deal for 3 more Lahtis 1st, 2nd, and 3rd series wartime. Also finalizing a special Finn and some others. FN-49 is also a favorite of mine, I'm a sucker for crests.

Yes finding them is half the fun. I couldn't afford these firearms at prices here, so I have to search everywhere for them.

A Belgian FN-49? Yikes that's hard to find. I have a tidy pile of FN-49s but bow to yours.
I have another one all matching but scrubbed crest. I had a good mentor who hooked me up on that one. The one with crest I got lucky it was listed as a Luxembourg on guns international.

Guessing this isnt the best forum to list items for sale?

Here is the last Hungarian 48M I sold to Kroh for $2k and he sold for $2850. Figured I would give collectors a chance directly, but some of the uniformed think they are worth $200.

Or is it just the plastic fantastic crowd that doesn't know anything but finds a need to thread crap.
