There were even 50bps modems back when. The 110 modems sent about 10 or so characters per second. No Ks anywhere except maybe price
you are so right, but when he said 110, I assumed he meant 110k. I am old enough (unfortunately) to recall that that there was never a 110 modem. you wouldn't even be able to send basic text over a 110 modem.
You guys are young. I remember connecting at 110 baud.

Mass-produced modems in the United States began as part of the SAGE air-defense system in 1958 (the year the word modem was first used[1]), connecting terminals at various airbases, radar sites, and command-and-control centers to the SAGE director centers scattered around the U.S. and Canada. SAGE modems were described by AT&T's Bell Labs as conforming to their newly published Bell 101 dataset standard. While they ran on dedicated telephone lines, the devices at each end were no different from commercial acoustically coupled Bell 101, 110 baud modems.
damn nerds.
I remember sending data using 6 cent stamps.
News alert : livescan thread turns into old school computer education. More at noon......
Anyone who's gonna be paying $75-125 for training should just go the hunters safety route instead. The online course is $15, the field day (if you can find a spot) is free/donation. Sure, there's a time commitment, but there'd be one anyway. That's not counting another $75-$125 for people who need to do the training requirement, plus the time commitment and fuel cost.
I only wish voting would be as expensive and difficult.
We would have a different country overnight.
