I have what I'm fairly certain is a Chinese SKS but I need some help getting it more specifically identified.

All the serials match with on exception. On the stock and bolt, the serial number is "396604" however on the receiver the serial number is "2396604". The leading 2 appears to be a different stamp from the others as it is.slightly smaller and neater than the rest. This 2 is what is.really throwing me off. The factory mark is the 26 triangle.

In addition, the dust cover appears to be a Russian Tulsa 151r, complete with star and arrow.

Any info on this rifle would be greatly appreciated. I can provide.more info on request

    Thanks.

Bladed but based on its condition relative to the rest of the rifle its almost certainly a refurb

    Thanks everyone.

Any insight anyone can provide on that leading 2 on the receiver? My first guess means it's a 1958 but then why isn't the 2 on the rest of the serials? Was this typically left off the serials for magazine, stock, trigger guard and bolt?

My only other thought is that the 2 indicates that it is a 2nd run, making the actual serial the 6 digits common on the rest of the gun. Does this makes sense?

Based on the pic of his cover I'd say it's a Russian 1951 Tula.

But, the Chinese logo on the receiver. That trumps everything else.

Someone could easily misrepresent this rifle and say, Hey I have a Russian SKS to sell you. They would be wrong, but they may not be directly lying, Just not knowledgable of the fact that /26\ means Chinese Jianshe factory where many SKSs were made.
