Anyone have this issue in their Ruger Blackhawk revolvers?

I bought this Perfecta .45 Auto ammo at Wal-Mart.

The Perfecta case on the right is too long and would jam when I tried to advance to the next round in the cylinder. I would have to help the advance by turning the cylinder while pulling the hammer back.

The over protruding Perfecta case when I measured it was .894" tall, while the one that fits properly measured .891" tall.

45 ACP headspaces on the case mouth.

Probably the bullet is not seated or crimped properly.

Case length is OK. Max is .898

That twisted/dished case head is odd though. That's turning resistance on the frame right there.

Scrub the chambers really well and see if the problem persists.

.894" is .004" under maximum case length. I've used perfecta on match chambered guns without issue. I'd start with a good scrubbing of the cylinder chambers as suggested earlier in the thread then ho from there. A chamber gauge for loaded rounds woukd also indicate load consistancy relative to dimensions.

    Suspect: Chambers

I haven't scrubbed them yet, but when I swapped the offending cases with non-offending cases in respective chambers and the offending case continued to offend in its new chamber.

    RE: BigDaddy's Question

I wasn't counting when I was shooting, but with the last 8 rounds of the box I have left, 4 protruded as in the picture.

It looks to me like you have some defective ammo...

Some of the rounds have problems...

There are 3 simple things to try:

#1. If you are using reloads, first try buying some new ammo...
In my experience, Winchester White Box is typically made well, inexpensive stuff, but not the most accurate...

    #2. Buy a case gauge: http://www.dillonprecision.com/content/p/9/pid/25548/catid/3/Dillon_Handgun_Case_Gages $15.45

#3. Also check to see if it's just one or two chambers that..? Mark the chambers with a pencil 1- 6...
That would be a gun issue & it would need to go back to the factory...

My guess is that it's just bad ammo...
