I got this message when logging in today:

There is a problem with this website’s security certificate.

My internet security is pretty robust. What's up and what need to be fixed?

I'm not an IT guru...it's for the mods attention or action. Has something to do with site security, and I don't want viruses on my computer, or a root kit, or whatever. All I know is this site got flagged when I logged in, and it may be an issue. First time in three years I got a security warning coming here.

If I recall the certificate is only a month or two old. I have yet to see an issue.

A number of elements for mdshooters are still linked to http, so I'm getting mixed content warnings:

    Code:
Mixed Content: The page at 'https://www.mdshooters.com/showthread.php?t=194349' was loaded over HTTPS, but requested an insecure image 'http://www.mdshooters.com/mds/elements/catsub.jpg'. This content should also be served over HTTPS.

I figured I would post this here as it seems related.

I am going to log into a system that blocks mdshooters.com via blacklist we hate guns lookup.

I can(used to) log via https://64.140.160.211 in this case

The security certificate is reported as being fraudulent. I even allowed it as an exception then fails into an invalid redirect.

Im just trying to look at the board via my registered login.

Can you try a different browser? I can open the link above in Firefox.

Your browser is giving an error because the SSL cert is assigned to "mdshooters.com", but it is installed at "64.140.160.211".

You can add it to your browser's exceptions list, or keep hitting ignore.

On a separate note: you have a crappy blacklist if it blocks names but allows ip's.

I tend to agree with the OP "JonnyE"..... something has changed with this forum.

I did nothing at all with my PC.... or any of it's software.... and (about two weeks ago) I started receiving the following error message prior to every window page this forum delivers, including the sign-on page.

And.... this is the only site I visit on the web where this message appears on my pc in this manner.

    ??? thanks.

Still with XP, b747fp, and EX 8.something.

Windows XP is no longer supported by even Microsoft. You should upgrade for security's sake. But if you refuse to do that, you can follow these steps to turn on Mixed Content display in IE.

    http://www.labnol.org/software/ie-security-warning-for-https-websites/13388/

The cause of this issue is that when people use the [ IMG ] bbcode tag and paste in image URLs from outside sources not using HTTPS there's nothing we can do to fix that from being a mixed content warning. Having said that, you should not be getting this message on "every" page. I can verify on my end the majority of the site (all pages minus threads with such linked content) does not have Mixed Content issues.

    Thanks "b747fp".

I followed your link, executed the enclosed IE8 settings, now no longer experience this new, annoying content error message as I view MDS pages. :)
