So it looks like PA is finally getting its act together and getting modern rifles legal for hunting, probably next year. Goody! First up will likely be varminting, and oh how wonderful I have 3 5.56's ready for that. (Also a son on the way according to the wife, so in 6 years or so it'll be two of us.) The catch is that two of them are 1 in 7 twist and one in 1 in 9, so maybe the slower one can squeak in 50's if I had to, but I really want to run the other two as well. Do any of you guys load varminting loads in 60-69gr weights? What has gotten the best results for you vs. woodchucks, coyotes, etc. accuracy wise and energy delivery on impact?

Huh?!? What are you worried about? You can't overstabilize a bullet.

    My 1/7 shoots 55gr. Varmint HP's and 55gr FMJ's like a laser.

I like V-max bullets, relatively inexpensive, and everyone has them. I use a bolt action with 1-12 twist and 40gr flat base V-max bullets, it is supremely accurate and devastating, blows a big chunk out of groundhogs. The front 1/2-2/3 of the bullet fragments quick, the base expands and penetrates, pretty much perfect, although I might go with a little tougher bullet for predators. I occasionally load heavier V-max bullets for my ARs, they are similarly accurate, but haven't shot anything other than paper and steel with them, would probably be better for larger varmints and predators.

I've had outstanding accuracy with 60g Nosler Ballistic Tip Varmint, pushed by 24.5g of H335. Runs ~2900 fps. 18" barrel, 1 in 8 twist. Probably could load it hotter, but no need. Picture is a 200 yd target, but credit goes to the Leupold 6 x 18.

Look at Varmagedon 55 & 62 gr bullets. Both shoot sub 1/2 moa out of my guns using Varget and H-335, respectively(my gun is 1-9).

    69 grain Sierra MatchKing boolit
    H-335 Powder. 23.0 grains
Winchester or Federal brass. Trim to 1.75"
Winchester SR or Federal 205M primer

    Sub-MOA in Colt R6601 and 6920 at 100 yards.

Yes, it's a Match boolit, but, for a varmint, it'll knock 'em dead.

    Hornady 55 gr V-Max boolit
    H-335 powder. 26.5 grains
Winchester or Federal brass. Trim to 1.75"
Winchester SR or Federal 205M primer

Very accurate (Sub-MOA) from Colt 6920 at 100 yards.
Verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry accurate from Remington 799. (Also sub-MOA at 100 yards)

    Hornady makes a 60 grain .224 V-Max as well.

I have not shot these 60 grain bullets, but the lighter 40, 50 and 55 grain V-max bullets that I have shot are all good and accurate bullets.

They are all devastating on groundhogs.

62 grain nosler varmagedon is nasty over h335 in my 1/7 noveksee 18" spr. Will shoot under an inch at 100 and post it note size groups at 300 and 400.

Has taken some ground hogs too.
