I heard a tremendous amount of info about Florida legislation discussed or passed regarding banning certain guns, raising the age limit to buy firearms, magazines, and so on.:sad20::sad20::sad20:

Has any info come out on FL CCW permits (out of state). This is one of the best CCW permits along with Utah and is more useful if you travel in the southeast.:D

Will Florida lose this status as one of the best out of state CCW issuers?

This has been out of the discussion of antigunners because they likely know little to nothing about CCW.

I was really hoping for national CCW but that seems like a pipe dream after Parkland and Las vegas.

Do you travel to Florida? If so then the Florida permit is the only way a Maryland resident can carry there. I haven't seen anything to indicate that will change.

If it does change they will probably honor the permits until they expire.

One downside is you cannot carry in Pennsylvania with a NR Florida permit. I remember several years ago the AT at the time severed reciprocity with FLA, UT and I believe AZ and VA because PA residents were getting a better bang for their buck getting NR permits. I have my NR New Hampshire which is good in PA and like 29 other states, extremely easy one page process all done through the mail.

    It was more than that.

A small number of urban jurisdictions, notably Phila PD were going full retard on Shall issuing. They require a laundry list of extra hoops to jump through ( contrary to State Law ). AND going MSP style stupid over "proper person" ( or whatever their working). They would deny people for arbitrary reasons like " I don't like your hair cut", I don't like your shirt" , " I don't like your tattoo ", etc ( NOT making those up ) .

So a certain number of people who were either improperly denied by Phila PD , or didn't want to deal with the $$$ , and months of runaround from Phila PD figured out about Non Resident Permits , initially Fla , later Utah also.

The screaming became loud from the City of Phila and the Media, to the familar refrain to us of " those people are getting Permits from ( evil organization ) after our fine Police Agency turned them down ! Blood in the sttreets , dogs & cats will engage in group sex ! " Except they substituted the State of Fla instead of HPRB .

As mentioned, if you want to carry in FL, you have no choice. FL does not accept NR permits from any state.

I have heard no rumblings about CCW permits after the mass shooting. This seems to be about long guns, not CCW.

    But never trust politicians anywhere.

Why have I not heard about the NH NR permit being valid in PA before? If this is still true, I will look into it. I have a PA resident at work that just told me that to legally carry in PA you have to have an issued permit in the state you live in. Not sure if that is true or not, but he is a permit holder in PA.

There have been numerous threads here about NH NR permits being recognized in PA. The agreement between PA and NH does not limit reciprocity to residents as the other agreements do.

Your friend is incorrect. PA requires a home state permit to get a PC CCW, but not for reciprocity purposes.

Therefore legal. I have a NH NR permit. No prints no training. 100 bucks.

I have attached the reciprocity agreement from the PA AG web site.

PA also honors the Texas CCW.

The downside to TX is you have to go to TX and take a course from a TX certified instructor, get prints and pay all those fees

Class , Range photos and prints was 150 that includes the 25 license fee . Why not go to Texas it's a awesome state

If you are a vet, it is something like half price and renewal is $5 no fingerprints. I used to travel to DFW for work so it was easy to do at Bass Pro.

Haven't renewed but think it is still 25 bucks

And that AG is now in jail if I'm not mistaken.

I have 2 grandsons in FL so I got a FL permit a couple of years ago. Took the class and live fire down there while I was visiting. Also have NH since we have a place in PA.
